New Cavy Slave

Hi, I just wanted to say hello to all of the other slaves, I have two boys BUZZ and ROMEO. I am unsure of the age the shelter said 8 months. I adopted them two days ago from the local animal shelter. They are in bad shape, cosmetically, today I taking them in for a complete checkup and EXTREME CAVY MAKE OVER. Will post pics tomorrow. ALso I am going to build a c&c soon this week ends project. My guys deserve the best, a new start. Any advice anyone could give me on piggies would help, also cage advive, there are so many awesome cages. Well anyway, I am glad to join Cavy Cages. Hope the visit to the vet has a good out come. More than likely the boys have mites, but no fear - they are usually treatable if caught soon enough.

With the proper care and lots of love your boys will provide you with many hours of joy.

Welcome! Congrats on adopting two rescue pigs, they certainly are lucky!

I would start with a 2x4 or 2x5 C&C cage for your boys, you can always expand later.

Hi Guys thanks for the replies, BUZZ and ROMEO are fine all is well, they just got a nice bath and nail clipping and there teeth were filed, they were actually Fine with that and I can barely Pick Romeo up but he love the bath, but no mites, chest is cleared, ears are fine.

I actually have one more, the animal shelter called me and told me they had a girl that came in on Sunday, she is reddish brown about a year old, she is really friendly, so the huge heart I have, I brought her home. , she is also fine, she does have a slit in her one ear but othet than that she is well the vet said it is or no harm to her and it healed fine. So she is in a pretty big cage 4x2 for now I really do not know much about her past owners but she is very loving cavy, she already cuddles, once she is calm I will get her a friend, probally this weekend, she will also get a c&c home. I am going to take pics of them tonight and take them to get devoloped so you can see me babies.

Hello thanks, the one I have for them now is 3x3 and it has two levels is is on wheels I got that from pets mart. It was a pretty pennny, but I want my guys to have alot of room to run around and chase one another I will put my new piggie in there old cage. With the c&c I am planning on making a 2x5 with a 1 cube level on top for their hideaways, I am lookign around trying ot get some ideas. But thank you, for the advice.

Welcome! Glad to see you adopted some cavies. Make sure you build a seperate C&C cage for the girl, you don't want them to be together.

Slap - you always seem to be misunderstanding something. You are very quick at saying someone is rude, when you yourself are probably one of the rudest posters on this site. I normally never respond to anything you say and a lot of the time I try to positve input to the poster you have attacked.

You may know a lot of guinea pigs, but you don't know how to treat people.

I am NOT rude unless something is provoked. And I do NOT get mad easily. When something needs correcting, I do it nuetrally. I do not yell. You are obvisily still holding a grudge from when I corrected you on your pigs nutrition. You need to let it go.

And yes, I know how to treat people. If you have something to say in public, PM me. It is rare I get heated.

I very rarely see a post from you that isn't negative and rude or maybe attacking is a better description. And no, you don't know how to treat people. I see a lot of posters on here who are constantly telling you pretty much the same thing - guess you don't listen - but then, you know everything. You are a very spoiled, arrogant child.

Given that so many people tend not to know much about guinea pigs when they first get them, combined with Slap's admited misunderstanding I really don't think she's being rude. She was simply pointing out a fact that has been pointed out to several new cavy owners. The interviewer at the humane society asked if my other two cavy's were girls. I didn't think he was rude.

If we keep jumping on people for being rude, then all we will get is arguments about how rude or unrude a person is. If Slap had been responded to the same way she had made her first statement then this wouldn't have taken such an ugly turn. eg: "As good as your intentions were Slap, you seemed to have missed a beat there. She already stated...." etc.
