Hi everybody,

i went to the shelter today and I saw these cute little guinea pigs. Their names are Queenie and Princess. Queenie is so small and she has a white body with a tan and grey face with a white blaze going down the middle. Princess is a little longer and she has a white and grey face and she has a grey tutu around her middle. They are so cute and are now in their quarintine cage. Also Queenie is an abbysinian and Princess I think she is a silkee becuause she has such long fur for being so young. They around 2 to 3 months old and they are so skittish. It looks like they have never been handled but are very enegitic and have blue eyes. I will post pics of them after in about 2 days so they can calm down and get use to their environment. Thanks Queenie.

Aw so you adopted them, tis a bit unclear.

They sound so nice, looking forward to pics.

Yes I did. Thanks I will try to get some pics.

How many do you have in total?

I just have 4. They are all going to live in a 4x6 and I am adding a second level.

Oh, blue eyes! I can't wait to see them! They sound beautiful - the lucky little ladies.

Thanks Baby Bears. They are so small amd cute, but so active.

Also is it normal for guinea pigs to make a high pitch sound when you hold them. Princess was making that noise but I also just got her so she still may be scared.

She could be scared, or it could be scurvy. Chip did that when he had scurvy.CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!

What is scurvy. I think it is just scardness. She does it less now. She seems healthy and is eating and pooping normally and she shows no signs of illness.

Scurvy is when vitamin c is lacking

Oh and by the way, congrats!

Thanks Lindsey and Piglet. She may be lacking vitamin C. I am not sure becuase I have had her for not even one day. I will try to post pics later tonight.

Congrats on the new piggies, can't wait to see some pictures of them :)

Have you given her vitamin c tablets?

Thanks everybody, Dagwell actually I ran put of the vitamn C tablets so I am using the drops till I et some more.

Just make sure to give her tons of fresh fruits and veggies and that her food is high in vitamin C... you should be fine. If she seems really healthy other than that, I wouldnt do very much with Vitamin C tablets. Also, the liquid vitamin C that you put in water sometimes contains chemicals that are actually toxic for your piggies, so be careful if you choose to use those.

Congratulations on your new adopted piggies! I'm so happy for you and the piggies, they found a great home! I would say that they're most likely just still scared because everything and everyone is so new. Those veggies should warm them right up though!

Thanks. I actually just gave them a big salad with carrots, apples and some lettuce.

Ah, well then they should be in love with you now! hehe
