New cavies. New forum!

Hello! My piggies are Odysseus (left) and Ed (right). Odysseus "aka Odie", is about 4 months old. He is my first guinea pig. I received him for my birthday 2 months ago. Ed is about 1 year old. I adopted him from a nice lady on craigslist. I have owned him for around 3 weeks.

What kind of cage do you have and how big? I can see a couple pet store cages in the photo there but not much else..
The pigs housed together, or separate? Did you double check both their genders?

Thank you! I'm currently trying to find materials to build a 2x4 C&C cage. They are both males. Double-Checked! And are currently housed in different cages.

Cool! Though if you can, i would recommend going to at least a 2x5. Two boys will get along a lot better in a bigger cage.
I would recommend not letting them out together until they have that bigger space. Every time you let them on the floor to play together, its actually just stressing them out, as its similar to reintroducing each time.

I measured out to see if I could do a 2x5 but in the room they are currently in it would be too much. Thank you for telling me about the floor time thing. I had no idea that that was the case. You sure seem to know a lot. I hope I learn a lot here.

That would be great! A 3x4 is the same area as a 2x6, which is a perfect size for a pair of boars. Also, people find that boars get along better in 3 grid wide cages because the pigs have the space to get from one end to the other without going near the other pig.

In time, you will know as much as i do. Ive only been in the cavy game since early December. I didnt know one thing about them before that. You know i use to not care for them, because i always imagined they were like ferrets, all smelly and noisy. Boy was i wrong. They are such fabulous little animals, i couldnt live without them.
