Hey everyone :D

Im getting 2 boys a bit sooner than i thought, I have the cage but as i have a hamster i thought woodshavings would be a brilliant idea for bedding because i buy it anyway....but after actually thinking about it im going to be getting through...ALOT of it.

So i read into this fleece business. Must say im taken and its the better way to go for definite. However, with the washing i dont think im going to have time to get some done in time (what with living in cornwall, UK its like monsoon season here) i dont have a tumble dryer either....so as a quicker alternative i done some searching and found these....
The Amazing Aquamat - Dries Dogs, Cleans Up Muddy Paw Prints, Dries Floors - 3 Pack: Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies thought its absorbant so i could either use it as a fleece for now round the kitchen area with shavings else where but i dont know whether something like that would work.

Im just totally new to this fleecing idea, know about the washing and wicking but as my boyfriends parents dont know yet i dont want to look weird buying tonnes of fleeces and washing them...cant say id have a normal sounding excuse haha.

So if theres anyone who can unconfuse me about bedding, layers, absorbency etc.. it would be mighty appriciated. Infact just pretend i said all of the above if it makes explaining easier haha.

Thankyoous :) x

Sorry for rambling aswell :silly:

The pads that you are suggesting to use absord moisture. The purpose of fleece is to wick moisture away from the piggies.

Fleece requires a layering system. Fleece on top, absorbant layer in the middle, and water proof layer on the bottom.

Those pads might work well as your absorbant middle layer and if you have a C&C cage the base acts as your water-proofer to make sure nothing leaks out of the cage.

Wicking means that the fleece will draw moisture through it, which is why you need something underneath to absord it.

I would just suggest using your wood shavings for now until you can purchase and prep your fleece. If you have a GoodWill or Thift store around you can look for fleece baby blankets that have probably already been washed multiple times before they were donated.
