Hi everyone, im Cassie. I posted previously, introducing myself and my 2 new guinea pigs, Ozzy and Butters. I had a 2x3 C&C cage, which seemed small for both of them. They occasionaly nipped at eachother, or pulled on eachother's fur, but theres never been serious damage.

I just made an addition to this cage, which is now a 3x4. Could this help?

Hi, I don't think I saw your introduction thread, so welcome to the forum!

As far as I'm concerned the bigger the better when it comes to cages! Minor disagreements are normal, but it helps when they have tons of room to get away from each other.

I'm sure having more space will really help with the disagreements, let us know how your boars get on.

I didnt want to start a new thread, but despite the bigger cage, whenever they are close to eachother, walk by eachother, or brush sides, one of them seems to nip the other, causing the other one to jump. Ozzy made a sort of 'purring' sound.. ? Anything would be helpful.

Sorry to post for a 3rd time in a row, i just wanted to add that there is a lot of teeth chattering, and Ozzy is rapidly sprinting around.

Speaking from experience with guinea pigs at different points in my life, sounds a lot like they're establishing who's the boss in their new surroundings.

I just recently adopted two boars, 1.5yrs old, and the previous owner said they get along great, well- they were squabbling constantly the first week we brought them home, and the only thing I can sum it up to is that their cage has been put together differently, and they're in a new home.

I would just keep an ear out for them, and until they start inflicting serious damage I wouldn't separate. :)

(My boys have finally settled down. ;) )

That "purring" sound is actually rumblestrutting (I call it sexy dancing) they're most likely just figuring out dominance in this cage!

You should notice a big difference with the cage size! 2x3 is the appropriate size for one piggy - so you've given them a lot more room!

I've noticed that you don't have two food bowls, pigloos. Having two of each thing (one per pig) can also get rid of some of the drama as each pig has their own things! I also noticed that you have no hay in that cage or spot for it - are you using a grid type manger or hay bag?
