I have just got 2 Guinea pigs, one a year old, one seven months old, they live together, they have never been given hay, though they seem very healthy, they do eat dried grass, but it’s very short, only about 1” long.

can anyone recommend a way to encourage them to eat hay, I have tried multiple kinds and they are just not interested

Try this family owned and operated small pet feed company in Michigan . They have very quality hay at affordable prices.
Also try offering hay in all locations their bed and everywhere. Also limit non hay areas such as possibly limiting them to their hutch until they start eating the hay.

The point of feeding hay is more Dental than Dietary but still! Very very important! Hay helps grind teeth down and I mean the molars that you can’t see:)

Edited by bpatters: @omgitspiggies, it is NOT true that the point of feeding hay is more dental than dietary. It's very important for both, as hay contains a significant portion of the protein and minerals than pigs need. In fact, it's probably the most important item in any pig's diet.

I find it very hard to believe they tried hay and didn’t like it but still try again. I swear they’re gonna eat it

Are you positive they’ve never had any sort of hay? I would understand grass to a certain extent but I’m curious to know if they have any sort of dental problems?
