I am considering adopting a pig that was rescued from a neglect situation. She was in a dirty cage and had severe mites. She is now recovered and has been given a clean bill of health. Does a neglectful past make it likely that she will have health problems in the future, or is taking good care of her now like starting over?

You're starting over with your piggie--the past shouldn't influence the future. Good job for adopting! =)
