I need you to help me design a cage. I have 2 packs of cubes available. Bellow are the "rules" for the cage.

  1. It must be pretty easy to clean (Meaning not really closed in)
  2. It has to use 2 packs of cubes or less.
  3. It has to have some kind of loft.
  4. It needs to be able to fit in a room that is approx. 8' X 12'
Thanks you so much for your help! I'm brain deprived of ideas right now.

Well, how big is your bed, for starters? How much room can you afford for a cage? Is this just a cage that can be JUST for that room, meaning you can have all the space? How many piggers?

Sorry we just need more information.

Oh that's ok. Silly me. I didn't think about those things.

It's a room specifically for the pigs. I have a small bookcase in there but that's it. I can afford most of the room, although it would be nice to be able to walk around without having to step in piggy poo :)
I have 3 piggers. They like to chase each other and play constantly so I just need more lap space.
As for the cage, It doesn't have to be on a stand or have a lid. I think only one story would be nice with maybe a loft for hay.

Well, I'd suggest at 3 grids wide- I like wider cages, plus it's easier for lapping the cage. Sooo... Here's a thought:

3x5x3x2 L-shaped- Pigs usually like L shapes and it helps with running around.
with a 1x4 hay loft and a swinging door for free range/floor time, so you don't have to chase them around and put them on the floor- they have a choice!

It would look like this:
(broken link removed)
the orange part is to show how big the loft would be.
If you use fleece for the bottom, you would only have to use 2 things of coroplast and be able to use the rest for the loft/ramp or whatever you'd like.

Oh one more thing, how many grids are there in a pack that you have?

There are 36 grids in each pack meaning 72 total I think? I'm undecided weither I should get coroplast or just put down multi layers of fleece on the carpet. That also sounds like a great cage. Thanks for the pic. I'm a "picture" learner.

Hey that cage is identical to mine expect I don't have a loft any more. Also how many pigs do you have?

I have three. Piglet (1 year), Roo (3 months), and Eeyore (3 years)

Aww named after the winnie the pooh characters, cute!! Well since you only have three that cage will be huge for them! Gd luck! :)

I think I'm going to go a bit smaller like a 3x??. Not sure.

I'm happy about making a bigger cage now because the pigs have a room to themselves. THis way, If I pay for the cage supplies, I can do what I want with it.

If you wanted to make a smaller cage (I had no idea how big you wanted to go, sorry), and if you wanted to keep the 3 wide, I would do a 3x4/3x5/3x6 how ever long you want so it'd be a rectangular, a 3x4 in my opinion is a great size, and you could have a 1x3 or 1x4 top or something for the hay loft.

I'm undecided weither I should get coroplast or just put down multi layers of fleece on the carpet.
Fleece wicks moisture down to whatever is underneath it. So if you put multiple layers of fleece, the pee can get wicked all the way to the carpet or whatever you have under. Also when you put down multiple layers of fleece, it tends to smell much more than having one single layer. Plus when there are no coroplast sides to the cage, poo and hay often end up a foot away from the cage because the pigs will kick it out the sides of the grids. I learned that from experience.
