My parents grow their own veggies throughout the year, so my boy's diet changes. Currently, it's made up of romaine, spinach and parsley with the occasional carrot. When I return home to school, they get romaine, green peppers and the occasional carrot. It is not as easy to feed them good veggies at school since the veggies have to stay in the fridge and I can't pick them fresh.. Can anyone give us suggestions on how to store veggies after they've been cut into once already?

@pocketmonster Like with green peppers and cucumbers that I've already cut, I just put them into a ziplock baggie and make sure to squeeze all of the air out of it.

They have these 'green' box things at walmart there plastic and they keep veggies pretty good even when there cut up .. not so much cucumbers and carrots or like bell pepper but lettuce and herbs stay great! and there only $10 for like 6 or so (big and small) or with like cucumbers i put them in a ziplock bag with some water and they syay good for like 4 days

Oh nice, thanks for the heads up! I'll definitely have to get some! I'm tired of going into the veggie drawer only to have to throw it all away. Ugh.

No problem.

My Piggies menu is:

1 cup of veggies per pig per day, consisting of:

1/4 Yellow Pepper PER CUP

Lettuce (RED LEAF)

5 Cilantro Stalks (recommendations: should I use more or less?)

Grape Tomato (1 PER CUP)

Strawberries every OTHER DAY

RATE MY MENU!

Here's the list of what you can feed, and how often: https://www.guineapigcages.com/threads/22156/

Your pigs need a cup of veggies a day. Red and green leaf lettuce and bell peppers should be staples in the diet -- avoid romaine if your pigs have white/powdery/sludgy urine. Give them a variety of other veggies -- mine get a chunk of carrot, a slice of roma tomato, corn husks and silks, and cilantro every day that I can find those for them. They also get green beans, summer squash, endive when I can find it, dill and basil.

Strictly limit spinach, kale (really, all green leafy things except lettuce and herbs) and parsley because they're too high in vitamin A and/or oxalates and/or calcium to be fed on a daily basis. Fruit should be given only occasionally and in small pieces.
