I had two boars, and yesterday my best friend Ron passed away. I'm very very upset about it, but I'm conscious to the fact that my other Guinea Pig is now a lone boar. The idea of getting another is very painful for me, but I know it's in his best interest. Should I take the extra time to mourn, or should I get another for my solo boar as soon as possible?

It would depend on how he is acting. Remember you have to wait for 3 weeks before putting them together.

He's acting a little more scared around me, withdrawn.

I have two separate rooms and more than enough grids to keep them apart for 3 weeks, however there's this Guinea Pig that's been at the shelter for months now, and it makes me so sad knowing no one would adopt him. Wouldn't any illnesses become apparent to them by now, or should I still keep them separated?

That I can't answer. I adopted two thatbwere in the shelter for over 8months. We did play dates at the shelter and because of that I put them together right away after the two intros.
