My ginnys ears look dry and flaky.
Tryed using min. oil. Seems to get better the next day but if i skip a day it seems to get worse. Will get pic on soon. Anyone seen or heard anything like this.

Plz any info. Thanks

My Fudgy Bananas has the same thing... only on one ear. I'm actually taking her to the vet tomorrow so if I hear anything, I'll let you know! I also posted up a thread about it.... you can read people's responses: https://guineapigcages.com/threads/6775/

Oh Oh thanks so much Yes Yes plz plz let me know. I hope everything is ok. Good luck and God bless. Oh by the way is it on the ear as well as the back of the ear kind of crusty but more dry looking?

It's a lot more obvious on the back of her ear. I wouldn't say the entire area, probably half of it, from her skin to the end of her ear. Only the rim of the inside of her ear is like that. But yes, more flaky on the outside.

I hope both of your guinea pigs get better.

Thanks us too.

Only one of ginnys has this. If I put the oil on the ear I can get like some brown stuff off. I not doesnt give much but he doesnt seem to mind to much when I put it on

Ill go and take a pic.

Just put on the oil about four hours ago. But before his ears were real dry and crusty. Now you can only see like brown little sores near the upper part of his ear.

Hmm, I can't seem to see anything from that picture. So let me tell you about my vet visit today. I wasn't satisfied. In short, the doctor said that it "could" be ear mites and I can try putting on mineral oil and see if that works. Also, the mites should be more obvious on the inside of the ear instead of the outside. But because Fudgy is only 14 oz (she's only about 2 months old), the ear mite treatment shot will be too small of an amount to inject (like 0.05 mL) so she was against that. Then she gave me a mixed solution of tresaderm and ivomec___(something) and told me to apply it to Fudgy's ear 1-2 times a day. Basically until she gets larger, there isn't really a way to know...

I wish I had a better diagnosis for you. I'm contemplating taking Fudgy to another vet and getting a second opinion.

I guess if it gets worse, take Ginny to a vet and see what they can do about it?

awww i hope both your piggies get better soon!
i hope you find out for shure what is wrong.
i just hope there ok!

Hi!

Just to give you an update on Fudgy... she's actually doing very good with the topical solution! Obviously she doesn't like it when we apply it but her dry, scabby ears are definitely getting better! =)
