Nail clipping

ACK! >.< *smacks self with a pillow* I've been completely forgetting to clip my piggies' nails! They're sooo long now, and I feel so bad... I don't think they really care, because they've got fleece bedding with three layers of batting underneath (my piggies' pampered toes... XD), but they're so long now... I feel so bad. They're not so long that they're curling under, but they're long! They were mad at me when I clipped them today...

How often should I clip their nails to get them back to a reasonable length? Weekly? Every few days? I bite my nails and can't stand them when they get longer, so... >.< I feel like it must be agonizingly irritating for them. >.<

I do it once every 4-6 weeks.

I gave up on doing it myself. It became a weekly thing and my piggies and I hated it. So now I just wait till they get pretty long and take them to the vet and let them do it. This way they will only hate me once a month.

Probably about once a month. I always look at my pigs nails and if they seem long I'll clip them. My pigs hate having their nails cut so I'll usually do one or two feet per day until they all look nice. Frequent cutting causes the blood supply to receed and thus you cut cut them shorter over time. On the flip-side, if it's been a while since their nails have been cut, you can't cut them as short as you normally would, since the vein/bloodsupply will be getting longer also.

I do it every two-three weeks. I hate long nails, and for some reason my pig's grow very fast. Cali also has a deformed/broken toe that needs constant trimming.

I had to do a partial clip on Nugget. They foster family wasn't clipping his nails that often. I got them to a good point and will give him another clipping in a couple weeks and he'll be ok. Smores hates it when I clip his but CC is very good about it.
