My beautiful girl, Prim, just recently gave birth to two pups! I just went into their room and Prim was in her igloo with both of her pups! lol There was blood on the fleece though, is that normal? And both of the placentas are still lying there. Prim seems to be fine as she is running to the kitchen section of her pen and eating veggies. Both pups both appear to be "wet", but eyes are wide open and the are getting used to moving around. Not sure what the sexes are yet, as I want mom to clean them first. But I just thought I would share the great news!! Oh, and I keep Prim's sister, Rue, and Rue's daughter Lucy in the same C&C cage (Lucy is two weeks old), and Lucy is very inquisitive as to her new cousins!

How long does it take before the mom will eat the placentas? If she hasn't eaten them by tomorrow morning should I just throw them away?

My coco gave birth 2 days ago she ate the placentas straight away.
i think you can take them out. the only reason she eats them is to make sure preditors dont know she gave birth.

miss_melmel That's not actually "the only reason she eats them" they also restore nutrients from my understanding.

This is a picture of the two day old babies! I have affectionately named them Peanut and Jelly Bean. The are all ears and feet! I can't believe how big their feet are :) They were so cute too! They were pop corning around the cage with big cousin Lucy. I think Lucy loves having two new playmates!

OMG! They are so cute! I can't wait till my Anya has her babies! I am so nervous and scared. I would have thought she would have had them by now but still no babies. The 22nd will make exactly two months that I have had her so freaking out cause I don't know when she got pregnant. But by my calculations IF she got pregnant the day I picked her up (which is impossible cause her belly was already pear shaped when I got her) then her last week of gestation would be the first week of July, however I read that their bellies don't get big and drag till around 3 weeks so that should make her ready to go anytime now. UGH
