I made something new for my girls today. I call it a hooded cozy. As you will see in the photos, it's pig approved. There are a couple more pictures of it in my gallery.

Wow, I like it :)

Wow, it is cool. It looks cozy. I like the fabric you used on the oustide. It looks sort of snowy/cloudy. I bet they love it.

The outside fleece has horses on it but you can't really tell it. I was asked in a comment to one of the pics in the gallery of how much I would charge to make these. The one in the pics is big enough for 2 piggies. I would probably charge about $12 for the large ones and $10 for medium size ones. I would knock $1 off the price for each additional one ordered up to 5 and if you wanted more than 5 it would be $2 off. Plus there would be shipping on top of that.

It looks so cool! Im in England, so the shipping charge would just be ridiculous.

What are the dimensions for the large and medium sized ones?

Ooops, now that I look at it I can sort of see the horses.

wow, I'm gonna try to make one, if it doesn't work I will probably buy one from you! I would like to know the dimmensions too.

I have started patenting the idea because I am going to try to sell it to a manufacturer since this is an idea that I created. I would appreciate no one trying to make them on their own without my permission. There is no other creation like this for piggies that I can find anywhere on the net.

I don't know the exact dimensions since I didn't measure anything. But the large one is nearly the size of a 1x1 grid area and will hold 2 good size pigs. The medium size one is about 2/3 of a grid size one way and 3/4 of the grid size the other way and will hold 1 good size pig. This is based on 14" grids. My son has misplaced my ruler, and I can't find my fabric measuring tape so I just eyeballed it for the first couple of ones I made. My mom has those fancy fabric mats and cutters and she is going to loan them to me to make some.

My pigs absolutely love them. One pig gets out another goes in. The one is big enough for 2 but they don't like to lay together and cuddle.

They are completely hand sewn. Nothing is done on a sewing machine. I do pretty good hand sewing work and the seams are sewn with small stitches so they won't come apart. So if they seem slightly high in price this is why. It takes much longer to hand sew than to do it on a machine. So more labor is involved. I am also donating $1 for every one sold to Teresa's Rescue.

--Not exactly the same, but pretty darn close. Your's is square, their's is circlular. Your's is fluffy and padded on the bottom (or at least it looks like it) and so is theirs. Their's has a hood, your's has a hood.

That is totally awesome that you sew them by hand! And it is really nice of you to donate $$ to Cavy Spirit! Awesome idea btw, they look great.

I don't think it's that close to mine, but in a way similar because they both have a hood. I still want to patent my idea. Plus the hood on mine will stay up and not go flat, I designed it that way.

Thanks for the compliments!

how does the hood stay up?

If I tell you, I have to kill you. Hehe, just kidding! If I divulge all my secrets then it will be harder to get a patent on it because others may try to use my idea and do the same. I'm not a stingy person by any means but I want to try to sell this idea to a pet bed manufacturer.

Piglet give me your postal code and I will check on shipping for you.

My giunea pig would love one of those!! My zip code is 02818. How much would the shipping be? I would probably order the smaller one because I have one guina pig.

my zipcode is 19355, mine didn't work, at all :(

Will you have different colors or fabrics?

Yes, I will have different colors of fleece and some patterned fleece too. I will have to go with what colors and fabrics I can find at my local Wal-Mart, until I am able to get to a supercenter for more choices. I will try to go this week to make a list of the solid colors and patterns for fleece and see what other fabrics they have. I think I may try one with a fleece cushion and a flannel hood. I am going to look for other soft types of materials too for the hoods. I am trying to figure out what fabrics besides fleece will wick away moisture.

Based on a 3lb. package weight (actual weight for one hooded cozy in a box will probably be less than 3lb.) the shipping to:
02818 will be 5.71
19355 will be 5.65

Good work.

I have seen these online but not for piggers, for dogs and cats I think it was.
I forget where I saw it but they were really nice.

(broken link removed)

I found where I saw them, I know there different animals but same idea I think.

When I said this, I had searched for a couple of days to sites with pet beds and small animal beds. I said that I can find. I looked at the link you posted and while very similar in ways it's not the exact same as what I make.

I just know that my own piggies love them and if anyone wants to order them they can and if not then that is ok too.
