What do you consider a lathargic pig?

I don't know; mine are pretty lazy so I've been wondering this, too. They seem to have stints of "hey lets run around the cage and find food", but then they settle down in their loft or hidey house and that will be it for a while.
Maybe this isn't normal, but they are "normal" in every other way and got a clean bill of health from the vet only a few weeks ago, and have been like this pretty much since I got them two months ago. Their life is pretty much eating, wheeking, and sleeping. =)

Mine are quite they eat but don't run around very much.

If you show them a piece of lettuce and they don't come over to get it right away (unless they are a skittish pig) then they are a little lethargic. They have to be laying down a lot.

One of my pigs is shy and a little Skittish and doesn't really take to veggies.

My lethargic pig just sat there, took a long time to come to the grids for food, hardly moved around, ect.

he moves quick when he does he just doens't move very often except to drink eat hay and food

Mine have no problem responding to food--any time I refill their pellets or waterbottle, top off thier hay, or bring them veggies they perk right up. Like I said, they seem to rest, then get up, see what they've been missing, eat a bit, and then go back to resting. They still run around, popcorn, etc. They just seem to be "bored" in between, even though I've tried to give them plenty of things to distract them. It almost seems like a calm before the storm (at dinner time, that is, haha).

My guinea pigs lay down with their head in the food dish. I've actually seen one try and stretch his neck instead of actually standing up to get another piece of hay. That's every day! But when Deuce started showing signs of being sick, he would keep his head down, shuffle around very slowly, and not respond to the usual things.

CC doesn't run around unless he's startled or in a good mood. Smores so far is a very quiet, he eats, ventures out and stands still if you want to pet him.

I don't think I ever see my pigs run around, unless there's food.

Mine 2 girls are up on the 3rd level every morning when I wake up for their usual petting and playing hide and seek with me. That lasts about 10 minutes. They go to eat pellets, drink water, down to first floor for hay, back up to 2nd level to nap in house. They will repeat this alot. Go up to 3rd level and run around for 2 minutes and see what threats are up there. Nibble on treats and apple branch. Maybe nap in house up there. Back down to 2nd fl. to pellets, water, then down again to hay and so on and so on till 6 pm and they start wheeking for veggies. After veggies, hay, nap, and so on and so on.

That is great you know their schedule pennick... all I know is mine are very active when I wake up, then they nap HEAVILY for two or so hours.

Ha-ha-ha. I can' t stop laughing:) That's a good one.

Hahah that is good. All my piggers are hyper and move around alot except for Harriette. She lops around all day unless she is hungry or thursty.

A lethargic pig will mostly lay around and not want to eat hardly anything and drink very little. They usually won't even run or run far when you go to pick them up. Lethargy is a major sign of illness.
