Hello everyone.
My guinea pig (3 years old) broke his tooth. He is eating and everything, like he doesnt even know he broke it, but in past 6 months, its 4th time. And it was always the one tooth. Top left one. Can i do something to prevent that? Go to vet?

my piggy has broken his front inscissors before when he has been abit over zealous with wood chews..he would break only one of his top ones in half..its no major concern as long as your pig can eat everything if not you may need to assist with handfeeding.

Keep an eye on how it grows back level with the existing tooth and not uneven/slanting. If it is slanting then see your cavy savy vet as it maybe a sign of molar overgrowth.

Do you have wood chews in the cage? Does he chew the bars?

As long as he eats normally, he's probably OK. But do observe him carefully to make sure he's chewing normally. Missing a front incisor could possibly result in overgrown molars on that side, and that would need vet attention.

Yes, there is. You can get plexiglass at a building supply store, drill holes in it, and zip-tie it to the inside of the bars of the cage. Plexiglass isn't cheap, but it's a LOT cheaper than piggy dental bills if he develops molar problems.

You may not need to line the whole inside of the cage. I've had bar chewers, and I only needed to line the corner of the cage closest to the kitchen, as they only went into bar chewing frenzies when I was fixing their veggies.
