We went to Petsmart on Saturday, and the Lotsalove Adoption Agency was there. They had Two beautiful Lionheads up for adoption, and me and our family adopted the Older one, which was 10 months old. She is nearly potty trained, it's just that she leaves Poopy everywhere. But, she's very Anti-Social. We let her run around the house for about 2 hours a day, and she sometimes jumps up on the couch, sniffs us and sees what we're doing, and then hides underneath the couch. Why is she doing that? And, how do I get her to stop doing this?

PS... Do any of you guys know where I can find cheap Cubes?

I found my cubes at Bed Bath and Beyond for 14.99

If you go to their website you can sign up your email for a 20% off coupon.

If you don't have a BB&B close you can use Walmart's website. If you use the "site to store" option shipping is free, you just have to pick up your local store. We've done this SEVERAL times with items for my daughter's birthday and Christmas. Items always arrive well before their estimated arrival date. The only pain is at our store it seems like it takes a miracle to get someone back there to get the stuff once it arrives.

Not a rabbit expert at all..just sharing where I got my cubes.

I'd say she is just getting used to you.

I am nearly sure that rabbits have to have 5 hours (and more if possible) floor time a day.

Rabbits are much easier to litter train when they are spayed/neutered. And they have much less chance of getting cancer.

(P.S I never owned rabbits before. This is just what I learned on the net)

Congrats on your new bunny! :D

Whats her name?

There's nothing anti-social about that. She's not sure about you, nervous and doesn't trust you. It takes months to gain a true relationship with a rabbit. They are prey animals after all.

Leaving droppings on the floor is a sign of territory marking, again because she is in a new environment. All female rabbits should be spayed as 80% develop some form of uterine cancer by the age of 3. When they hit puberty they get very hormonal and sometimes aggressive. They also have 'fake' pregancies where they pull out their hair and build nests. It's very stressful for them and it is far more humane to get them spayed. Just make sure you find an exotic specialist vet - some vets do not regularly deal with rabbits and aren't to be trusted sadly.

2 hours outside of a cage is not long enough. They need 5 hours exercise at least, rabbits love to run and 'binky' like pig 'popcorning'. They need a lot of space to do this, it's impossible in a cage. Just think how fast and active wild rabbits are.

In the UK the best rabbit welfare charity is RWF (Rabbit Welfare Fund). Please have a read through there leaflets, they are all you need to know about rabbit care. The feeding guide is fantastic.

(broken link removed)

I haven't found any decent rabbit forums in the US as yet, the UK has an amazing one, Rabbit United Forum which has lots of American members:

Rabbits United Forum - Powered by vBulletin

I hope that helps - they are wonderful creatures but need a high level of knowledge to keep them well. A rabbit can live to 10+ when looked after properly. Have a read of the RU forum, I think you'll find it very useful. :)

You can get cubes at Walmart online--you can order them to be sent to your local store and don't have to pay shipping.

Hi, when I first got my rabbit it took him a while to get used to us. He would run around and then when we went to pat him he would run away. We patiently sat with him every day and after a while he started putting his paws up on my leg and then climbing in my lap. It takes a while though. Always offer treats and give them a good pat when you can. You can't expect any new animal to immediately love you (despite what you read about or watch on TV), animals are shy at first they don't know you yet and that is normal.

Congratulations on your new bunny.
I spend a lot of time on Removed - we do not allow links with breeding how-to info or those celebrating breeding.

I learned a lot on there and this site is very great for cages.

Welcome.

Congrats on your new addition! I like XXXXXX as well. They're very helpful. We've only had Buddy for a few months now and he's still skittish around us but he's getting better. I had him neutered a few weeks after adopting him. He does very well w/ using the potty.

As far as cubes go, I think you can catch them on sale when back-to-school supplies come out (which should be in a month). I've gotten cubes from ShopKo and Bed, Bath & Beyond. Good luck and please check out RO!
