Well, here is my update. I am still feeling she is pregnant, however her weight has not really moved up from 940g. It has been at that for the last 3 days. Prior to that there was the 70g jump in 5 days. I felt her tummy today and it is definitely tight, though I couldn't find any definite "baby" pigs in there (didn't want to hurt her, and wasn't sure what I was looking for). She was not enjoying the attention.

Does anyone know if I should keep seeing steady gains until delivery or is it common for her to finally "top out" or something and then just have babies?

Thanks! They are soo cute sometimes i just want to squish their little cheeks. They are not huge fans of cuddling yet, though, lol. We are working on that!

Although I wasn't weighing her, just before my sow gave birth, she got pretty firm, and I decided she must not be pregnant. About a week or so later, she had two adorable babies!

Ugh, this is killing me. I have been following this thread because I think the pig I adopted is pregnant. :( Her belly is getting bigger, she weighs a lot more than her friend she came with and her nipples are very long and darker. :( Its either she is pregnant, recently had babies or she has ovarian cysts. :(

Here is my update- I didn't weigh her yesterday but the last 5 days have been consistent, no gains. She is still big in her belly, and I am pretty sure I have seen some babies kicking in there. My husband was fairly certain he saw kicking yesterday, as well. I feel it's going to happen any day now!!! As soon as it does, I will post lots of pictures :)

I hope you can figure out what's going on with her. I know that suddenly my "runt" guinea pig was passing her litter mate my leaps and bounds in the stomach area. The nipples also got longer/larger, etc. Other than that though she seems quite happy and healthy and is still moving around well.

Good luck with your pregnant mama. We just found out that our two girls are not TWO girls, but ONE. We have an appointment on Monday to have the male neutred. I hate doing this but the pair of them are so bonded and our whole point of getting two was so that they could be healthier and happier living as a pair. now the vet tells me she could already be pregnant and just not showing yet. So if she is, once the male is fixed, will he have to be seperated from her and the babies? I know some males eat young and I don't need that happening. I am hoping that we fixed him in time. I have not seen any hanky panky but since we have only had them a week and a half the vet said she could have gotten pregnant before we even got them. they are also young. Vet estimated about 12-13 weeks of age. (This vet was not a cavy or exotic specialist...the vet who is doing his neutring is. We are driving an hour away to seek someone who specializes in Guinea Pigs to do this and to make sure they are 100% healthy since getting them)

Sorry I can't help you with this. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along with an answer. You might want to start a thread to get your question out there.

WOOPS. I miscalculated my pig's weights the last two times- apparently she IS still gaining weight. Note to self: Do not attempt math when sleepy.

Summary of her weight change so far:

12/18/11 - 870g

12/30/11 - 990g

I think it HAS to happen any day now!

I wish her a very safe and easy delivery with no complications and very healthy babies and mommy in the end. :)

ChristieB, your male needs to be kept separate from the female now, and for 3 weeks after he's neutered. But he likely doesn't need to be taken out of the cage if there are -- most GPs are fine with pups. Occasionally one won't be, but just observe them carefully.

Any news on the mama to be yet?

Nothing yet! We did see quite a lot of kicking last night from whatever is growing in her belly, though! I have jokingly dubbed them "the aliens." LOL.

Still no babies. I don't know how much larger she can get! I haven't weighed her in 2 days because she doesn't love going in the little "elevator" to get weighed, and she's so plump I just figured I'd give her a break from the ordeal. I may lure her in their with a carrot today though just to see how much more she weighs. I am going to have to make the opening on the elevator box larger, because she can hardly squeeze through it anymore!

Right now I'm spending a lot of time figuring out what I want to do for a new cage/2nd cage. Unless there is a ridiculous number of babies, I'm probably keeping them all!!!

If he/she doesn't deliver in a week and 1/2 I would probably take her to the vet. That would be 3 1/2 weeks of noticeably large abdomen. This is highly unlikely for her to be noticeably pregnant for so long. It may be ovarian cysts.
