Pregnancy My "male" guinea pig might be pregnant?

I don't mean to update this so often but I'd just like to inform everyone that Charlies pelvic bones finally seperated. I guess we should be expecting babies pretty soon. You guys have noo idea how stressful it is waiting for babies when you want to see them so bad lol. She's had my anxiety up all week long. Thank's everyone for all the wishes. I'll be sure to post pictures of the babies once they come!

Oh believe me, I know what you are going through. I just went through it 3 times with my 3 rescued females who were all pregnant. If her pelvic bones are separated, it will be within the next 24 to 48 hours and all mine had their pups late at night or early morning. Did you be sure to check the pelvic bones from underneath?

There is no way to tell on the back. People say there is, but that is not true. That isn't even their pelvic bone. Google "guinea pig pelvic bone" and you will get lots of articles. There are even diagrams to show you how to check.

You have to handle the piggy very carefully in your lap and feel just above her woman parts. Those are the pelvic bones. If thereis only one solid line, they have not separated yet. If she is dilated, there will be at least a thumb width apart between the bones.

All of mine separated, and there was no change in the back bones at all. I felt daily just to be sure, but the absolute only way to tell is by actually feeling the Pelvic bone.

Still no babies. Eveyone is expecting them tomorrow (we have bets going around with friends and family lol). I guess when I felt the pelvic bones I was feeling in the wrong place oddly enough. Anyways momma Charlie is doing great still, eating and drinking like crazy. She's normaly very skittish but shes lovey and wants to be held all the time. She can talk your ear off too. Hopefully when she has the babies we'll still be this close. I calculated from when I put Charlie in the Cage with Archie and then added around 2 and a half weeks for the time that she should have not been in heat and stuff so she should have them by the 19th at the latest. We all think there are more than 2 babies too.

She will be a great mother I'm sure. If anything, My Laverne and Shirley both became more cuddly after having pups. I would take them out for their "own" time every day with me, just to escape the babies for a bit. They constantly chase the mother around all the time and I always thought to myself "wow, she must want to get away for a bit" Especially Laverne, who had 4 pups of her own and then took in Valentine's pup also as she did not want anything to do with it, so poor Laverne has 5 of them chasing her. Charlie will do great! She is healthy and has a great home and lots of love so I am confident that she will be a great mother.

Yea I hope she'll be a good mommy. Today I had her out on my lap and she peed on my twice in less than 5 minutes. I'm guessing the babies are pushing on her poor little bladder. I also had to make her a hidey out of a box because she couldn't fit in and out of her pigloo. Poor Charlie is just getting too big lol. I'll be sure to give her some time alone when she has the babies. How long after birth can I hold her or the babies? Shes gotten so lazy that she'll get just close enough to reach her food dish and then shell grab it with her teeth and pull it closer to her. I feel sooo bad for her lol.

I wouldn't really handle her anymore now that she is so close to giving birth. You can handle the babies from the time they are born. (after they are all cleaned off of course and the mother is feeding them) Don't clean up the afterbirth or anything and don't assist her with birthing unless of course you absolutely need to. I waited until the next day to clean up the birthing area, due to the fact that they will eat the sacs and the placenta and stuff because it's their instinct.

It sounds like it won't be long now. Mine both kept eating right up to the time they gave birth. They got lazy the last few days before, and stayed close to the food and water.

I hear you!!! I am excited to see them too. I know how stressful it is, especially going through it for the first time. I hardly slept for days, but it was all worth it in the end. Can't wait to see the little sweethearts.

I can fit my pointer finger between the two bones. Charlie has been really skittish today and wont come out of her pigbox (homemade pigloo lol) and is very lazy.
