My Guinea pig is...

My Guinea Pig is pregnant! Apparently I bought her from the store as a baby and had no idea that she was pregnant. So now were gonna have baby guinea pigs! For the last two weeks I have noticed her getting rounder and plumper, looking like a pear. About a week or so ago I slightly felt around her belly very carefully and can feel the babies moving around and kicking out. Does anyone know how long after you can feel the babies moving that she will give birth? I am worried that I wont be home when it happens so I just wanted to know if there was a certain period of time after feeling them that she gives birth. I'm also worried that because of her size the babies wont be born healthy...but I'm not sure. She's not very big for a pregnant guinea pig. Her sides are definetly round but shes not huge like other guinea pigs that I have seen in pictures. Does the size of her matter, or does that just mean she is having less babies? If anyone has any information on this I would greatly appreciate it.This is my first time ever having a pregnant guinea pig and this was definetly unexpected, but I have picked up some books on them now for info. I need all the help and information that I can get!! Thank you so much ;)

i know just what you are talking about!

my guinea pig was pregnant when i bought her too! but sh is now happy with her young daughter, and her son is off with a friend. don't be afraid, they usually have birth in the night anyway. but my guinea pig was smaller than the guinea pig pics in the books, but she had perfect babies, except that one has crooked teeth since birth. but if you see her pushing a guinea away, you might want to take out the other guinea pig(s) for 5 minutes or something like that, so the runt has a chance to nurse.

Mine Too

Mine was pregenant when I got her too, I think they're born that way... I was walking through the house and noticed a bloody thing|I , screamed8o , and realised that she had babies<img src=(broken link removed) ALT=" >D"> . We kids thought she was pregnant, but my mom just said that she was 'getting mature' (denial!) .

She had three happy healthy babies. Two girls and a boy. Awesome babies, sweet, and oh boy were they cute! I had to take the two out to let the teeny one nurse, and found good homes when the time came. Congrats to your piggie!
