I posted this in Cavy Chat already, but wanted to post it here too. I will get pictures as soon as possible.

My cubes arrived yesterday and the coroplast was already here so I made thier cage yesterday. I didn't build either a 2 by 3 or a 2 by 4. I built a 2 by 3 and 1/2. I made corners out of 2 of my cube grids and connected them in the middle of one end with another grid. The other end was made as usual with 2 grids. I have my grids inside the coroplast box instead of the other way around. I found that by doing it that way the inside measurements are 29" by 50", which gives my girls a 10' square area for their cage. They are very happy with it as they have lots more room to run around then they had in my 9 sq ft homemade cage where they had a lot of obstacles. They were popcorning and wheeking like crazy last night and earlier today, but now are napping in their new home. I actually like having the cubes inside the box because the grids hold the fleece in place better.

That sounds like a great cage! It sounds like you have very happy pigs.

Thanks! I think my happy pigs are exhausted right now from all of their earlier activities as they are still napping. I love having their cage right here beside my computer so I can watch them while online.

Congrats! I am sure they love it.

I think that it would be cool having your pigs by the computer. My pigs are napping too.

I am so excited today as I went to the second hand store and found 8 used metal grids for 6 dollars. Consequently, I have been very busy redesigning Poppy and Lassie's new cage's upper level today. It now has a 3 by 1 loft and access to the loft is by climbing up 2 steps, each about 4.5 inches high. I only built the loft about 9 inches from the floor and there are walls around it to keep the piggies from falling off. They love going up and down the stairs and I am putting their food and hay on the upper level and the water is on the first stair. The first stair is made by putting an 8" wide board over the top of their hidey houses. I am planning on adding a tube ramp later as soon as my son-in-law gets the PVC pipe for me. Everything is covered with fleece and thier food dish and their hidey houses are in litter boxes. They are such good girls that I don't have to worry about them doing anything but pooping on the fleece! All their other business is done in either the litter box with the food dish in it or in their hidey house litter boxes. It is so easy to clean!

Since I have a bigger cage now, a 10 square foot bottom with a 5 square foot loft, would I be able to get a 3rd piggie? My husband may not let me as he thinks 2 piggers is one too many, but I wanted to ask just in case.

How many grids x how many grids please?

I have 3 and 1/2 grids by 2 grids on the bottom, which has inside measurements of 29 by 50, for a total of 10.069 square feet. My loft has three grids on the bottom of one side and one grid going across to the other side. I measured the inches and it is 14x14x4 which is over 5 square feet for the loft. The loft has 9 inch high rails around it, except for where the ramp is.
