I'd like to put my future GPs out in the yard in nice weather BUT how do I protect them from mosquitos? They're everywhere here!

Should I just deprive the pigs of outside floortime or should I cover their enclosure with a mosquito net or what? Would putting lighted mosquito candles right by their fenced-in area bother them?

Is there some sort of GP safe bug repellent that actually works?

Any advice on this appreciated!

Definetly try a net over it. And only put your piggies out for a short while.

Thanks for replying! I'll try it!

Never use any type of bug sprays on or near the pigs. Also don't put your pigs in areas where there are chemicals on the lawn or where other animals have defacated/urinated.

Mosquitoes can also come from IN the grass. A net will be helpful, but will not protect them totally.

In Estonia we have the same problem, too many mosquitos and I have used a net. I also but their house in the fence, so pigs can hide(house is with a floor, so no bugs from the grass can hurt them) It works!

Use Mosquito netting and it will keep the mosquitos out but make sure it is actually Mosquito netting and not just any kind of net. You'll know if it is as it is very fine netting so an insect could not pass through it.
