My mom went to farm supply the other day and bought a bag of cheap quality guinea pig food, Kaylor of Colorado Sweet Harvest. She refuses to go to petsmart and buy oxbox food. My question is: Should I feed it to therm or just not give them pellets?

What does it look like and what are the ingredients. It might be okay short term. Until you can find a way to get oxbow. Does it have coloured pieces or anything else suspect looking. I know for my two boars they've had oxbow for so long they won't eat anything else and they're only a year and a half old.

I would not feed those pellets.

My parents are extremely stubborn when it comes to this. She will not return it, plus its already opened. Me and my sisters are thinking of just ordering Oxbow off of Amazon but Amazon only carries cavy cuisine.

Right off. She should return it. It has sunflower and peanut in the top ingredients they can't have that as I'm sure you know I would point that out to her. Because she'll be paying a lot more for vet bills when they are sick than on the oxbow food.

I've heard good things about cavy cuisine. I know it isn't oxbow but I know a lot of people who feed it. Do you have any oxbow left you could stretch it by mixing (that's also how you should transition foods)

Cavy Cuisine is Oxbow. Its the older type though, that's why i'm concerned. And we have no Cavy Essentials left.

Slightly odd suggestions can you see if Canadian Amazon will ship to you just did a search and oxbow is on there, it looks just like the bag I have in my room for my two boys.

My original question was: In the meantime before I can get new food; Should I feed them the Sweet Harvest or just not give them any food and put them on a diet of veggies and hay.

How old are the piggies. If their young, they need the pellets. I know this sounds horrible but you can pick out the seeds and so on and give them at least some pellets. This way they still have some pellets while they eat mostly veggies and hay.

I would not feed those pellets. They've got limestone in them, and that's not good. And I can't find any nutritional analysis for it, so there's no telling how much calcium there is in them.

UPDATE: It has been a couple days now and the piggies have been doing fine on a hay and veggies only diet. Also they are both about two years old.

The problem with poor pellets is that it will take months for problems to develop, and when they do, they'll be expensive and painful. You can't tell anything in a couple of days.

No. My mom said we could go back to the store and buy Oxbow.
