One of my girls had 3 pups on saturday, Mar 19. One is developing a bald spot on his head and is scratching. How should I treat?

I think you should take it to the vet RIGHT now, it sounds pretty bad, they check it, and give you the right medicine for you to give to it.

You should take them all to the vet for checkup. May have ringworm, or some kind of bug. If one has it they all could have it.

I know this may possibly sound a bit stupid...but are you sure the baby just doesnt have a "crest" - these are very flat and open on newborns.

I was thinking that too! But I thought it might be a silly suggestion, so I didn't post. You knever no, it could be

Yeah, its just that mites pretty much effect the body first, and the baldness will appear in the middle of the back generally - so being "bald" on the head has me wondering otherwise.

Also, IF it is mites, I would suspect that if the baby is losing hair (from only a few days), than the mother would be in a terrible state due to mites, and she herself would have hairloss.

Either way, hoping that the little pup is doing well (hopeing that it is not mites).

it does sound a little strange to be mites, since the baby is so young. All of my 4 girls had mites and one had them for over 5 months, if not longer and she only began to lose her fur (little bits at a time) after we had her for 4 months (we brought her to the vet immediately). I am not an expert on mites or anything, but it is not the least bit similar to what our girls went through. However, one of my girls had a bald spot on her nose, that we know know was a bit, but the vet did say that this type of sudden bald spot near the face area can mean that they have a fungal infection. Either way, I would bring your baby to the vet.
