What we have right now: I bent one grid and put coroplast on the side to keep our guys from hopping onto the rack
[GuineaPigCages.com] Minor grid hayrack issue

A while back in the winter we had second cut Timothy fresh from a local farm and it was fairly easy for the pigs to grab the hay. Our latest batch of hay is a Timothy first cut, also fresh from a local farm. The hay doesn't pack against the grid that well since the hay isn't as soft, so our pigs can't reach the hay very easily. Any ideas?
One idea is to stick a square of fleece inbetween the hay and the grid so that the hay is pushed against the grid facing the pigs.
Another idea is to bend the grid so that it's not as much of a V-shape and more of a U-shape.

You can use heavy scissors to cut the hay into smaller lengths. This way it won't get tangled together as much and will fall against the grids.

I just recently stopped using hayracks. The pigs looooove piles of hay. I know this isn't really an option for you, though, as you use fleece.

Ah phooey. I use fleece too and my boys have their "Hay tent". A bent grid turned upside down with piles of hay underneath it. It's messier and a little more work but I don't have the heart to change. They have sooo much fun it it.

You could always take the hay and soak it in water then let it dry... (it might be easier) But I don't know if thats good for pigs.
