Sad Met a couple that had to give up their gpigs today

Just want to get this off my chest! I discovered a couple people selling cheap Guineadad items on Facebook this week. I met up with these people about 40 minutes away today. They had a room FULL of all sorts of guinea pig stuff. Storage containers full of countless Guineadad liners, homemade fleece potty pads, beds, a fleece piggie couch, and other stuff. They told me they had to give up their two girls to the animal shelter because the wife of the couple had been diagnosed with some medical issue, they were raising money for it, and to move away. The husband believed the shelter was a safe place for them, but figures the girls must miss their veggies and hopes they get adopted to a good home. It was really sad because I could tell things had been rough for the wife and they had REALLY cared for their piggies. Those girl piggies had probably been super spoiled. It was very depressing. They asked me to pass along their info to anyone who needed low priced guinea pig stuff as they got enough to practically stock a store!!! But I don't know anyone who is or where to post to where it wouldn't be spam.

To clarify, I am not knocking for them having to surrender their pets. Just sharing a story that touched me today.

It always breaks my heart when people are forced to give up their babies. I know life happens and I definitely don't knock those for having to rehome when bad things happen, its the ones who do it for no real reason that annoy me to no end.

I’m sorry they had to give up their pets, that’s so heartbreaking. I’m glad they went to a shelter where new owners will be screened. I always get concerned if they are given away, or if a friend offers to take them not knowing how to care for them.

I hope the wife gets the care she needs and their situation gets better.

It must be very sad. I will eventually be going to college and I don’t know if I can take my piggies with me. I hope I can. If I can’t, it will be very hard. They have been with me for a couple months and we are very close.
