So, if any of you have read my previous thread, I have the 'all clear' to move the pigs inside and downstairs. The agreement, however, is that there is no odor or mess. I have decided to use fleece, but underneath, I am wondering what will be most efficient and odor controlling? Movers blankets or mattress pads?

Also, remember that I am in Australia and some resources are hard to get, so I can't get uHaul pads in without extreme shipping prices.

So, I have found these moving blankets- Wrap&Move 1.8 x 2m Movers Blanket

And if mattress pads are better, what should I look for?

Also, I've heard that towels are quite smelly, so are they are good idea or not?

How about a combination of towels and moving blankets OR mattress pads?

I also have to think about cost. The cheaper the better!

Thanks!

Don't get the mover blanket because it doesn't tell you the fiber content. uhaul pads, towels or mattress pads are fine as long as they're 100% cotton. Towels are heavy when wet but they shouldn't smell any worse than the others if they're regularly washed. Since they're denser, they probably hold more urine and will require a heavier wash cycle to get them really clean. I think those who complain about smelly towels need to change the bedding more frequently, even though the towels don't seem to be that wet.

I would call and see what those blanket are made of and see if its comparable to the uhaul pads. They look the same. **Made from recycled denim** is all uhaul mentions let them what you are using them for. If you use towels, you wants heavier towels. Mattress pads I haven't used.

I never had a problem with towels or uhaul smelling until I added the two new piggies and everyone started marking....

Denim is cotton. I bought moving blankets that looked like uhaul pads but they turned out to be some sort of fiber mix, weren't absorbent and were really thin. There was no mention of fiber content and I couldn't get the information from their website.

I started out with towels and they worked pretty well. As long as I put thick layers and changed them frequently. I now have a pre made liners with U-Haul pads inside with fleece on both sides. I use smaller potty pads where I know they go often and change that out everyday. The large fleece liner I switch out twice weekly. With having boars, I always try to leave a dirty bed or blanket so they won't scent mark as much after putting them back in a fresh, clean cage. Not sure if you have boys or not but thought I would share :)
