Hello everyone, I have four happy female Guinea Pig's and we currently use fleece but I would like to verify something before making more liners.

I understand there is a right and wrong way to put the fleece as in the front of back side of the fleece. The liner I'm looking to make is fleece on the top, a layer of UHaul pad(middle) and then another layer of fleece on the bottom. When speaking of the finished product do you want the front side of the fleece showing on the top BUT what do you all do for the bottom??? Does it matter what side of the bottom fleece(bottom of the liner) is showing???

From my research here is that if you don't arrange the fleece properly it could possibly not wick/perform poorly, please correct me if this isn't the case. My biggest concern is I have a long haired in the bunch and if it doesn't wick she is going to be a mop which is not OK for me. Thanks in advance and thanks for all the help so far!!

When I make anything from fleece I always have the "right" side facing out so if I were to flip it over it would still be the "right" side facing the bellies of my piggies. Hope that makes sense.

Most fleece will wick in either direction. But you should probably test it out first. Put an absorbent material down, put the fleece on it, pour a little water on it, and see if it wicks through. Then flip the fleece and pour it on a dry spot in the other direction. If it wicks either way, it doesn't matter which side goes next to the pig. If it doesn't, then put the side that wicked next to the pig.

Awesome, I appreciate the responses and will test it out like you said. Just want to make sure I'm not doing anything fundamentally wrong here, thanks again!!

I think it mostly matters because most fleece is 'prettier' on one side, and less attractive on the other. I've never had fleece wick any differently - and theoretically, since the moisture has to go through both sides, it shouldn't make a difference.

in any case, I can't see how you'd be able to test it before buying new fleece, since you have to wash it a bunch of times to get it to wick as is.
