Thank you everyone who encouraged us to get another cavy. We got Lynard a week ago, and after the encouragement of others and a lot of research, we got Hendrix on Sunday. I have noticed a real change in Lynard - it is so great. They are still in separate places, but Lynard is running around his house and popcorning all the time. Hendrix is still hiding out a lot and tryaing to get used to things. I feel a little bad because Lynard can't get to Hendrix and he is trying to find out how to get to him. They talk to each other a lot. I am so tempted to keep them separate for a week and then introduce them, but I am going to be a good mom and keep them quarentined. I am planning on taking them to the vet for a good once over before I introduce them. Thanks everyone so much!

Thats wonderful news and its great that you got a buddy. A lot of people say that their one cavy is truly happy, but when you get a friend, it is only then when you can see the difference having a pair makes.

That's right. I have 3 sows. I separate one of them in another cage because she has some minor fungus infection on the ear. She feels so lonely alone.

YAY!!!! I'm so happy for you! This is a great example to everyone that having another pig really does change the first. =)

I am so glad that we got another one! Hendrix is still hiding out so hopefully he will be a little more adventurous in the next day or so. We have been comparing him to Lynard which isn't really fair because Lynard has been with us a little bit longer. But, it is still a struggle to get Lynard out of his cage!

Yes, I can see why he would be a bit scared. It'll just take a bit of time and your patience. I hope everything works out well. Sounds like it's off to a good start!

Yay for Lynard! You did the responsible thing a pet owner should do, so I applaud!
