I recently started using fleece for my boars' cages, and I love it! It looks so pretty and the piggies like it too-nice and soft for them to lay down on. There are so many patterns to choose from with the fleece! Last night my daughter and I bought two new patterns as they were having a sale at JoAnn Fabrics. Now we have 3 different patterns and 6 total fleece beddings for the cage.
This is the method I have found that works best for me: Daily I spot clean poops and check the newspaper. Every other day, I change the fleece and all of the newspaper that is messy. Once a week, I wash the cage with vinegar and water solution. With 6 changes of bedding, I only have to wash piggie laundry once a week or so.
I've tried wood shavings (aspen) and carefresh, but after trying fleece, I have to say fleece wins in my book. It is less messy, easier to clean, and prettier, at least in my opinion.
The only problem I have with the fleece is that the shavings from the litter pans is hard to pick off the fleece. I may go with newspaper and hay in the litter pans, someone else mentioned it works for them well, can't remember who as I write this!
