Sorry I've been MIA lately. We've had a lot going on and I didn't have much time for the internet. But I'm back and wanted to do a quick update.
First, and most pertinent, the piggies All 3 are growing like, well pigs, and doing well. Lucy and Moo are loving cagemates and fully bonded...when they aren't fighting over a piece of green pepper that is. Oliver is still alone but not for much longer, he's getting neutered tomorrow and after his recovery period will be able to be with the girls. I'm sure he's excited since they've all been sleeping right next to the divider for nearly a month as close as they can get to each other.
Medically he's still had some problems but we've ruled out absolutely everything other than this very long named disorder that the vet is convinced he'll outgrow. * He's the little guy who had major joint swelling a while back. He's since been on antibiotics and steroids to rule out infections and we've still had bouts of swelling. There have been xrays and bloodwork and everything always comes back normal.
Oliver is growing like he should, a little slower than the girls did but he's at 720g now and eats well.
They all love veggies and have learned exactly what time veggie time is and if I'm running late they let me know, loudly
They play together despite being separated by a barrier. Lucy and Moo will run a lap of their 2X4 and then Oliver will run a lap in his (same sized cage as the girls) and they'll go back and forth like that for a while until they get tired out. They all sleep squished up against the side of the cages that meet so they can be next to each other and they like poking noses through the grids and sniffing at each other. They haven't ever gotten to play together unseparated because Oliver isn't fixed.
Tomorrow morning we'll take him into our amazing vet (I need to know how to add her to the guinea lynx list of recommended vets) and he'll get neutered, then after the required time we'll move them into a bigger cage with a loft all together. We're getting a 2X5 with a loft from the cages store.
In other news, which is important too because it's why we can acomodate a larger longer cage, we're moving into a house! Yay!!!!! We get the keys on the 18th. Can't wait.
I'll post some updated pictures asap.
