Long hair - heeeeelp
I've adopted two loooooooooong haired gp's. They were all clean and sweet smelling every time we looked at them and when we brought them home but it's only taken a day and they are matted and smelling like urine already.
I've got a brush and i've brushed one of them a little bit although when i get to the area around it's butt it starts to squeak so i think it hurts. If it hurts even half as much as it hurts my daughters when i do their hair i sure feel sorry for my little girls.
How do i wash them and keep them clean?
Also i read where you have to wrap and tie up long haired gp's hair, is this true or do most people just leave it dragging along the ground?
Another question. The bedding - i'm using a mixture of pellets made of old newspaper recycled and aspen bedding ( just a little ) but the aspen is getting tangled in their fur. I'm thinking of just going with the pellets alone because of their fur or switching to towels or fleece. Any thoughts on this from someone with long haired gp's?
I could really use some advice on this and soon. I feel so sorry for them. I'm sure they are not used to being in this condition.
