Debbie -
Thank God that they caught it. At least you know that you are in more capable hands now. At least they have a diagnosis and can proceed accordingly. You will be in my prayers and hopefully they will have it all figured out and have you feeling better in no time.
Hugs,
Kim

Debbie, I also believe that everything happens for a reason. The lady that died was put here to save your life. Plus, with the switch of doctors, everything was in place. It was fate. I really hope you're feeling better in no time. Take care!

Thank you Kim....
When the pulmonary doctors mentioned that they wanted to rule out mets ca....my mind went immediately to you, Kim... It didn't even dawned on me, until then, that I would be high candidate for lung ca, because of the breast cancer I had.

They will be doing more pulmonary tests on me next week. I'm not worried about it... it's pretty much out of my hands. It's a bit too much for me to think about it right now.

Like Scarlet O'hara said in "Gone With the Wind"...
"I won't think about it today." (or something like that... lol )

Hi Alyssa,
It just seem so bazar what happened. It has left me feeling rather strange. It's too unreal to be real, but yet it happened, and it happened to *me*. It's almost spooky. Because of the lady dying... I am getting the treatment that she should have received if it had been diagnosed in time. I keep thinking about her husband, and how his world must be turned upside down right now. She was way too young to die. This whole situation has had a profound impact on me.

Alyssa... thank you for the kind words and support. You are a jewel.

Oh Debbie. I hope everything comes out ok for you. I wish everyone a better and healthier new year. God works in strange and mysterious ways. I'll be thinking of you all.

Keep your heads up, wills going strong and your hearts open to the love that we can give.

Lindsay I know exactly what you mean! Also how did you come to bring in pets to visit with the elderly? I've always wanted to bring in some of my pets to visit... maybe my hamster Moke would be good, or if when I get them, some cavies. I just don't know for sure how to go about arranging for it *looks* oh well. I'll speak with my supervisor about that as well next time I see her I guess.
Ugh, let me think, I think yes, all I had to do was say that I was bringing her in, and my mom brought her on her lunch break. You really have to be careful, there cannot be any risk of your animal biting, and attacking. Other than that good luck, and I hope pet therapy might be your thing.

Also I was a student there so I was allowed to do those things, I don't think it makes a difference, cause we had a lady that brought her shitzu in every week.

I am going to speak with my supervisor hopefully very soon! I was supposed to go today but my dad made that impossible to arrange, ugh. There is still a chance I can go today but a faint one, heh. I hate it when obstacles get in the way of my volunteer work, as I love it so much!

I still don't actually have the piggies, I have everything arranged, but my father asked that I don't pick them up from the adoption place until around the 18-19 of February (due to scheduling). So I still don't even know if it would be appropriate, I have to see how the piggies react to me and other people... if they don't trust me, I wouldn't trust them not to be afraid at the nursing home, and possibly bite someone... but I wouldn't blame them at ALL if that was the case -- they may just be scared is all!

Anyway I have the run, I'll try to post again this afternoon/evening to tell how things went :)

Wow, Debbie sorry to read that things are so complicated for you right now, but I've got to say, I'm very happy that you got to go with someone that caught it for you.

I've been fine, just really really busy... I hope everyone else is okay this week too.

Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I've posted but each of you have been on my mind. I'm very sorry to hear that some of you were sick over the holidays. From what I've read, seems that things are looking up for everyone. I'm glad to hear it!

Things with me are going. That's about all I can say. I take that back. We have been and continue to be blessed. My mother spent Christmas with us. It was wonderful. She didn't want to go back to the assisted living home. She said she would rather be at home but if she couldn't, she'd rather live with me. To make a long story short, my brother went back on his word and said she's staying right where she is. My sister finally admitted that if she came to live with me that they would never get to see her. We have been making the 3 hour drive to see her for the past 17 years. My brother told me not to call my mother anymore. Ha Ha! Like anyone could actually stop me! We have been trying to contact an attorney for the past week. It's going to get ugly. I got an email from someone and one statement hit home. I cut it out, laminated it and put it on my desk. It says, May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. It has helped me so much. I hope it helps all of you as well. Take care. Prayers and well wishes for everyone a good year!

Good news! I officially talked with my supervisor today about the letters and she says she loves the idea of getting "pen pals" for some of the residents! I was sure she would like it, but she really thought it was a great idea, yay!

How is everyone doing?

It's been rather quiet on this thread... hope that is a good sign.

I'm doing quite well lately. A bit of a head cold, but hey, it's January. A few minutes ago, I finished writing a letter to one of kimmee's residents for her penpal project, so that made me feel pretty great as well. I hope all of you are doing well, or better, also.

Well, I hope this finds everyone doing well. I've been in a funk today. When I got home, I started feeling achy. I hope it passes. I've got big plans the next two days. And my kids are driving me nuts! But it'll get better.

I had my 6th chemo last week and have a PET scan scheduled next week to see what is going on with those nasty cells trying to get me. I am feeling positive and looking forward to a new year full of good things.
Kim.... I was just thinking of you and wondering how you are doing. Any news about the PET Scan?

Hoping and praying that all is well with you. You are in my thoughts.

Gentle Hugs.

I took in the first letter for the penpal idea today... it worked out VERY well! The resident absolutely loved it!

If anyone else is interested in participating, PM me :)

I burned my fingers while serving the residents' lunches today. Poor me. hehe. At least I don't have blisters, just all the skin is peeling.

How is everyone else doing?

Do you really want to know? Ok here's my sad tale:

My father-in-law hasn't been doing well. He was hospitalized for a few days. He suffers from seizures and diabetes and doesn't take care of himself.

I just got back from my mom's house. I had to take her to the hospital at 5:30am with my 2yr old. She underwent a procedure to see if she'll eventually have to have a hystericatomy (sp?).

I've been ill myself. After traveling several hours for Lola on Sunday, my immune system isn't doing well and I stayed home with a touch of the flu on Tuesday. Now it's moving to my chest. Argh!

Angel was dropped by my son a few weeks ago and was paralyzed for a week. She is doing well now.

Lola was stepped on last Sunday (hence the long drive to an ER vet) but she seems to be stablizing as well.

Ok I hope everyone else is doing better. I'm sure next week will be ALOT better.

Good Lord Jenn, sounds like you have had more than your fair share of "stuff" going on in your life. Have you ever noticed that one situation usually is followed by another, which is followed by yet another? "When it rains, it pours."

Hope your father-in-law is able to get his diabetes and seizures under control. Is there a "mother-in-law" at home to care for him when he gets out of the hospital?

Any news on the outcome of your mother's medical procedure? Hoping for the best for her.

I am so ((( Happy ))) that Angel is doing so well. She had many of us scared to death. That little piggy was in my prayers everyday. I am so glad that she pulled out of it OK. What a relief you must be feeling.

OK... Is Lola one of your other piggies?
(I'm behind in reading the post this week.)
OMG The poor baby.
Please keep us posted on how she is doing.

And YOU...
Sorry to hear that you have had the flu. I am concerned since the virus seems to be moving into your chest. Jenn.... please drink *tons* of water to help keep the secretions loosen up in your lungs. Drink the water as if you were trying to drown the flu bugs. -- I swear by huge doses of vit C as well. Hopefully you can get some rest over the week-end so your body can repair its self.

Gentle Hugs.... Take Care. K?

Ok... I was a patient in the hospital in December, and then again on January 05, because I have *something* weird going on with my lungs that is causing heart spasms. With even moderate exercise I become short of breath, and my oxygen levels in my blood drop dangerously low in the low 80's and when this happens I could have a heart spasms. NOT GOOD!

Yesterday I went to a Pulmonary doctor at Davis Medical University. I have a "butt load" of medical tests that need to be done on me. Because I recently was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, an auto immune disorder that effects the joints... it is now thought that I might have Fibrocystic Pulmonary Disease, as the two seem to run together. Oh JOY!!!!!

They also gave me four or five other possibilities for the low O2, but those possibilities were even worse than the Fibrocystic Pulmonary Disease.

So... I am still on mostly bed rest with only moderate activity until the doctors can get my oxygen levels up to a normal range.

It's kind of freaky to breath in air and yet feel like you are not breathing enough air. And if I move around too much, which isn't much at all, my vision will go, and my hearing is as if someone has their hands covering my ears.

((( Very interesting living in a human body that is broken/ ill. )))

Well... I guess it safe to say I will not be participating in the 5 mile run for "Race For The Cure" this month. : (

With me not working... We are short $4,000 a month each month, and disability doesn't pay enough for even the co-pay from my insurance on my doctor's bill. GRRRRrrrrr.......

Ok... enough venting for this post.
Just very frustrated right now.

At least the "Pig Boys" are doing well. No URI, or other illnesses. That is a real blessing.

Debbie
