Dominance Litter Box Before or After Introductions?

I want to put a litter box in Feebee's cage, but I'm afraid that when I put Truffles in the cage (after a hopefully successful introduction) Feebee will claim it as her own and not let her use it. Or should I put it in now so Feebee will learn to use it? Maybe she would teach Truffles to use it...? Thanks :)

I wouldnt put it in now because that would be one more thing to scrub down. Maybe once they get along and are used to eachother.

Okay, thanks :) Any other opinions?

Another question: would I need 2 litter boxes?

well i would put one in each corner.....

Wouldn't that take up a bunch of space though?

You could make a bigger litter box/ feeding area. A 1x2 coroplast tray will work.

Another question: would I need 2 litter boxes?

I have a 2 x 4 cage for two girls and I have two litter boxes one in each back corner, because they would fight over one and I also have a 6" wide/1" high litter tray along the back connecting the two litter boxes. The litter boxes are 3" high and so they get some exercise jumping in and out of them.

Those corner litter boxes are really too small for pigs. They pretty much just use them as sleeping areas. Instead of thinking of needing a litter box, think of it as needing a "kitchen area". Make it large enough for your hay holder, pellet dishes, and water bottles, and for two pigs to sit in it at once.

@foggycreekcavy: That was what I meant, so should I make it 1x2? (They've already been introduced)

Whatever works for your cage and your pigs.

I switch around. Sometimes I use a huge 2x2 that I made with coroplast, other times an upturned cardboard box, other times a cat sized plastic litter box.
