So I'll try to make this understandable but feel free to SKIP AHEAD*.... I have a 11 year old blind dog with 6 teeth (but I promise he is very healthy other than that) and I stay with my grandmother during the school year (Sunday night thru Friday night) since my parents work opposite hours and I would not be able to make it to school on time. Mouse (the dog) has NEVER played with toys and DOES NOT like walks. So he sleeps allllll day. Anyway, he just recently became totally blind and is not comfortable with my parents when I am gone so he is coming with me to my grandmas. He will be staying in a spare bedroom that has carpet. He will have an accident in there for sure so my grandma found some linoleum from when they did her kitchen floor in 1997. We cut it to be a 97" (How tall it was already) by 56" (if I remember right) and he has grids for a pen so he won't free range and hurt himself. He is cat litter trained and doesn't like to be in grass (he's a unique dog!!!!) and he will come out when I get home from school and sleep in my bed. He will also come home to my parents house on the weekends.

* I have 30"x 97" of scrap linoleum that we didn't use. You know what that means? A new addition to the guinea pigs' cage!!!! I will be stacking my current 2x4 purchased from guinespigcages.com on another 2x4 (built). How do I do it? Should I put a wood board down first and have that be the bottom one with the flooring on top? Has any one attempted something like this? My guinea pig, hamster, crafting, babysitting room will not be finished (renovating) until April maybe sooner, but if I get the supplies earlier I can do it sooner. My two female guinea pigs had a squabble. A big squabble. Blood, hair tuffs, mounting, biting, chasing. So I made my own cage divider even though I hate to make the cage smaller. They seem a lot happier now, and they can still see each other through the cage bars. They still sniff each other through the cage bars. I thought it was possible to bond them again I tried bath time and the usual bonding exercises, but no luck, not very likely. I am just going to have to give them each a 2x4. So please give me ideas so they can have a big cage again!!!
Thanks!

I used linoleum to line my wooden cage. I built the wooden base then used flooring glue to lay the linoleum down. I had the flooring go up the wallas about 2 inches to protect the wood from urine. I have had the cage for a year now. Love it!

Thanks!!! It looks great!... Question though... Will the urine soak in the floor and make it smelly?

We also used linoleum tiles on our wood base for our cage and we haven't had any problems with it soaking through or smelling. we did also put tiles on the sides of the cages to protect that wood from getting gross. We attached our tiles to the wood with construction adhesive so those babies aren't going anywhere lol we've also had our cage for almost two years and its held up great to the 4 pigs in there. however, i do wash it out with vinegar water at every cage change.

Only if the floor isn't protected. Linoleum is water proof so there should be a problem.

That is a neat looking cage!! I may have to copy if that is alright? :)

You could use square wooden dowels then put the linoleum rifht on top.
