I recently changed to a C&C with minor issues (grids popping out of the connectors, a small collapse in the middle, fixable things.) It's all been fine and dandy until my rabbit got smart, and started jumping into the piggy cage. Now Garnet isn't a small rabbit, she weighs about 20 pounds. Add 20 pounds to a cage that has had issues in the past, and it all crumbles down. Twice she's destroyed the cage, in which I lost a pig during both times (lil Rosebud is now safe and sound <3) Unfortunately, to prevent Garnet from destroying the cage I've had to keep her in her cage when I am not in the room. Garnet is a free-roaming bunny, and only uses her cage to eat and sleep in at night, so it is a small cage. Large rabbit+small cage=an unhappy bunny attempting to escape. I feel awful, but until I find a suitable lid for the piggy cage, I really have no other choice. If anyone has any ideas on a lid for a 2x5, that would be amazing. I also have an extra pack of grids, if I can make lid with those.

I second the closet shelving. It is so sturdy and easy to open. You could easily get two pieces of 16in shelving that is long enough for your cage and you will have a perfect, functional lid that is rabbit safe.

My closet shelving lid easily can hold my family's 5 cats laying around on top of it, so one rabbit would not be an issue.

You might also consider putting the cage on a table, or building a stand for it high enough that Garnet can't jump on it.
