When I am holding Sam he will lick me. He had licked my fingers, face, hands ...lol....she is only 3 months old. Its like she is giving me kisses. LOL She purrs the whole time that I am holding her and she will lay down on me...awww I am so in love my my little critter...

Anyone else want to share any experiences...or storys of their piggies? I would love to hear them. ;-)

One of my favs

This happened a couple of days ago.

My dogs (Lab and Lab/something mix) and my pigs have an odd relationship. They love each other, and the pigs could practically sit on the dogs' heads, and the dogs could care less. Anyway, one of the dogs, Grey, was lying along the cage with his ear flopped through the front wall. He was sound asleep when Temporary, my older pig, came up to him and started nibbling away at his ear. Grey was apparently offended because he relocated to the other side of the room.

I also think its funny that the dogs enjoy pellets. At least once a day I have to stop one of them from grabbing a bite of the pig's food. What annoys me is that I feed the dogs really good food, yet they want guinea pig pellets!

my cujo is a real licker. i like to think that his is kissing, but I'm sure that it is either food or the natural salty oils on skin that they are licking. also areas where ther is fine hair, like arms get nice licks as well. i still like to consider it kissing! Slao, cujo is a real purrer, too. the sound of my voice gets him purring like crazy and when I pet him he just purrs and purrs. who would've guessed that these little guys could be so affectionate and demonstrative? aren't they great?!

lol cute =)

Unfortuately, at the moment my piggy seems to be frightened of me. I do everything I can possibly do right =( And when I stroke her I can't tell if she's making the unhappy sound or the happy sound. It's pretty similar =/

Look at her body language when she makes the noise. If she's stretched out with her body relaxed in to your lap and her head resting down then she's most likely happy. If she looks more like she's holding herself up on her legs (the body will also feel more tense) and her head is heal up in the air, then she may be a little nervous.

If she's a new pigger, it can take time for them to relax with you, so it's nothing to worry about - she will come to love her cuddles! Just keep up the gentle handling, and throw in a few veggie shaped treats as piggers are generally quite open to a bit of bribery!

Sometimes she lays down on me. I THINK she likes being rubbed on the chin. I've had her just over a month now. How long does it normally take Piggies to get used to handling? Generally speaking?

Thanks for the advice :) Much appreciated.

Newly born pigs or pigs that is new to you, may feel quite worried. Mine took like one week. And besides, it's not only me who's carrying them around, my whole family!

Still, they're all still very skittish when I want them to pet. I even came up with a trick on how to catch them.

Hmm. When I first got my piggy I did handle her a lot. I admit that a couple of weeks after I first got her I stopped handling her (very rarely), I won't go into reasons. Now I handle her a lot and since I've been reading up more on piggies, I'm trying my hardest to look after her the best I can. I think it's just going to take some extra time :D

does any one know how long it takes a new piggie to get used to you?? i had mine since saturday and its now wednesday (same week) and he still is skitterish!!

It can take weeks or even months.

oh ok then i will give him time : )
