See my sleeping area is the 1x2 and they have bunk beds complete with pillows and bed pads and blankies, so they lay there all day. Then the 3x2 is the kitchen. The bottom is for hiding and running.

If I had bunk beds complete with pillows, bed pads and blankies I'd lay there all day too!

Older picture, before I even sewed a set of fleece for it. 2x7 top, with 2x2 L attachment with ramp, and lower level 2x6.

What are you using as the bases for your two larger cages? We are planning a cage expansion soon and I like the look of yours. Plus, it looks like it's much easier to clean under than a base made of the grids.

Mine is 2 2x5 cages attached by a 1x almost 2 "bridge" (Does that qualify as a "monster" cage?). It is in a narrow room and takes up half of it. It's hard to get a whole pic of the cage facing the other direction, but here it what you see when you walk in the room. :) It houses 6 girls.

This is a so-so pic of my cage. The plywood base it sits on is 4x6 feet, so it loses a slight amount on each edge. But it's pretty substantial. There are more pics in my profile photos.

~Mel~ I went to Lowes and got one of those plastic shelving units that was 36 inches wide. I just stuck the feet on each shelf but didn't put it together. I then used the shelves with feet sideways as a base(you will end up with an extra shelf) . It makes 4 shelves with feet at about 19 inches high. It takes 2 under each 2x5. It is easier to clean, you can buy plastic storage tubs to fit under them (or if you are better with coroplast than I am, you could make storage bins to size perfectly) and it is at a better height to dissuade my cats from jumping in without being too high for my 5 feet of personhood to clean. :) One more positive is that, if I decide to change setups or whatever, it can still be put together as a shelving unit. :)

Shop enviro elements 72-in H x 36-in W x 24-in D 5-Tier Plastic Freestanding Shelving Unit at Lowes.com

The first picture is our old set up that housed a total of 4 boys(2 on each side) but since we bought a house that has less sq footage we went with a different set up. The other pictures are of the cages we have now. We now have a total of 10 piggies, all the boys have been neutered:p. I will be introducing my last set of ladies to their newly neutered companions on Wednesday. The last cage was made as a house warming gift from my dad after I showed him Inle_Rabbits cage.

kltohlman , the only thing I was capable of doing where the bunkbeds. I took them apart and bought the board that they use to make clipboards out of(Home Depot cut it to size) and placed it in the bottom of the beds. I am so not handy:crazy: and people in my family don't really trust me with power tools! I have attempted to make second levels and failed each and every time!

I see some of you give your piggies cardboard (ie the coke box was in a pic up there somewhere LOL) Don't they chew on this cardboard? Isn't that as bad for them as chewing on tubes from paper towels / toilet paper? I gave mine a box the other day but took it back soon after because Snowy wouldn't stop chewing incessantly upon it...

The girls love this! It's the same space as a 2x6 just set up differently.
