Do you think a 1x2 loft would be large enough for the "kitchen"? I just figured it would be easier to clean up if I put carefresh up there with the food and hopefully keep all the poo up there as well. I plan on doing the fleece flippers for the bottom. I'm assuming the coroplast can be taken out of the loft and I could easily just dump it daily. So would that size be ok, or should I go bigger? I plan on just buying from the cage store.

How many pigs do you have? Females or males?
I think a 1x2 upper loft set up is a bit small. A loft really is quite different than having a kitchen on the same level as your main cage. If you have males I would go much larger as smaller spaces tend to be an issue. If you have females and they get along perfectly then a 1x2 could work. Personally, after having upper levels- the bigger the better. My pigs tended to spend a lot of time up there and would make a mess super fast.

I just finished building a 2x3 with a 1x2 loft on top of another 2x3...7 hours, 300 zip ties, and 150 binder clips later....it looks great! But I had hoped to use the 1x2 as a kitchen area but the others are right...it is too small for my two grown pigs to use that solely...so I made it their hay loft instead since that tends to be the messier area and can be removed for more frequent cleaning. While an area on the main floor contains their water bottles and pellets. There would not be any room to fit all that in the 1x2 without them fighting or getting hurt. So now they can split their focus.
