It should be fed in small quantities, a leaf or two a day per piggy.

How is it bad? Mine love the stuff and eat a lot of it. They also love cabbage. I got kale specifically because of the vitamin C content.

They don't seem to be having any trouble with gas or bloat. What's wrong with kale and cabbage?

Kale has a lot of calcium in it and this can lead to the formation of Stones in your piggies.

Speaking of feeding and stuff. Does anyone know if spinach is OK to give to piggies?? Sometimes I'll get them baby spinach leaves and they LOVE it. I also heard that it was a good source of vitamin C.
Thanks

Too much spinach is bad for them, it contains something... I don't know what though at the top of my head. It should be fed moderately, like apples or tomatoes

I think he/she was just messing around.
Yes Spinach is ok to feed in small quanties. I give them about 6-7leaves (for 6pigs) every day.
Also Kale is ok in small quanties. I have alternative weeks with kale and Spinach so that they don't get too much of one thing.

Thank you very much - they only get spinach about once a week anyways, and about 1/2 cup (I own 2 piggies).

I'm glad to see this thread. I did not know that too much kale or cabbage was bad due to the calcium content. Are there any vitamin C rich foods that can't be overfed, meaning too much is not a bad thing, or is everything like that?

Well, everything needs to be fed in moderation, some vegetables you have to be extra careful with like cabbage etc. You can feed a lot of cilantro and ball pepper. Both have an excellent vitamin c content, but not too much calcium or other things. Fresh grass is good too

Spinach in moderation because it contains oxalic acid which can damage kidneys. Pigs should not be fed spinach every day but once or twice per week. Kale is high in calcium but you can feed very small amounts daily/every other day. I feed my 4 girls one leaf a day when I can get it mixed in with their other veggies.
