Hi, I am still new at having "piggies". I have 2 in a 2x4 C&C cage. One (approx. 4 months old) is very very active. However, the other (approx 7 months old) just sits around - I have seen her walk around but never run. She will just sit in the same spot. Is this common? She is eating great (loves her romaine lettuce) and having normal "bowel movements" but just seems like a very lazy little piggie. I have only had her 2 weeks and has been like this the whole time. She was checked by the vet when I got her and was given a clean bill of health. Should I be concerned or are there piggies like this???

thanks!

sounds fine to me, one of my piggies is kind of a bum, But i made there cage bigger and now he is starting to run around the cage.

It may be part of her personality. Some piggies go crazy and run mad dashes all over the cage and some just kinda sit back and relax. I have a pig like your 7month old but mine is a couple months older but most of the time she just sits or lies in different areas and doesn't run around much unless I have treats to give the piggies or unless it's veggie time. And I have younger pigs that go nuts and run around the cage.

Maybe if you give her some homemade toys or something to stimulate her more then she might start getting more active.

It seem's pretty normal to me but if it's really bad it maybe classified as lethargy (I think). So you might want to take her to the vet if you feel it is very bad, but from the sound of it I'd say she's fine.

thank you! I feel like a new Mom and not sure what to expect yet. lol

Nothing to worry about. Both of mine are 'lazy', they juts enjoy sitting around and looking puffed up!

Where do you keep her food and hay. Keep her food, water and hay on the other side of her house. At least she has to walk to the other side of the cage to get it. This will also help her get more comfortable in her new environment.

dial, how does she act when you add fresh hay to her cage? Mine all popcorn and run around jockying for the best position to munch.

she will walk over to it - doesn't go crazy though, but she does gobble it up.
i have yet to see her popcorn. i just built a 2nd story and was thinking of putting all the food/hay up there so she has to move around. (keeping a water bottle on each level though)

Sounds like a good idea.

She's probably getting used to the environment. It took my older piggy a few weeks before he started walking around lots. I've only seen him popcorn twice.

It could be age too though. Little ones tend to be active then older ones :)
