just a few Q.

ok i have 2 gp i got them for my little girl who is 8 but i ended up providing most of thier care. i dont mind cause i really like them, but they reqiure alot more care than i thought they would. anyways on to the Q's, 1) can you give a gp a bath, they used to have such soft skin and now it is all rough and they kinda smell lol... 2)i read about people letting there piggies run losse i have not done the they stay in there cage unless someone is holding them i got them a playyard but it is no bigger than there cage so they dont really get a chance to run, i am sard that something will happen to them if i let them run losse is it bad for them not to get out and run. 3) can you make ur own bedding or does it have to be that stuff at the store. 0]

Re: just a few Q.

The answer to question 1 is yes you can. But it is critical that you keep your GP's face above the water so he/she can breath.

Re: just a few Q.

oops I also have a answer to #2 too. It will be bad for them because they will probably get out of shape. So I suggest that you make a big area GP proof and let him run around.

Bedding

Try Fleece. I'm going to try it! Cheap, reusable, and easy on the piggers feet. Yeah!!

Re: just a few Q.

Guinea pigs seldom need baths because it dries their skin. Usually they aren't bathed more than 2 times a year.

If you do need to give it a bath then use a mild animal shampoo like bunnybath which is found at many petstores.

When you give it a bath the water should only be 1-2 inches deep so your guinea pig would be able to breathe anyways.

Make sure that water doesn't get into the guinea pig's eyes nose or ears and once your finished immediatly wrap it in a fluffy towel and don't put him away until your sure he's dry.

I suggest petwipes as an alternative to baths because it it quicker and less stressful to the pig.

A way to give your piggies good exersise and floor time is to lay a tarp on the ground and make a large fence out of cube grids or just have a room where they can roam.

Keep things like electric wires and sofas away from their floor time area. Because electric wires can be dangerous and it's hard to get a guinea pig away from under a sofa once they figure out it's a good hiding place:evil: but do put some hideyholes like shoeboxes with holes in them so they can feel safe.

bathroom

My bathroom is about 8ft long and 4ft wide. That is where my piggies usually get their floor time. I know that that's not huge but they run around ALOT especially circling the floor and toilet. They love it and popcorn all over the place in there.

Bathrooms are usually cords and furniture free and floor easy to wipe up messes if you remove bathroom rugs.

And easy to block off doorway with their playpen fence. Just prop the fence against the doorway and something heavy (I use a foot stool) against the fence. That way you can just walk over it or look through it to see them.

Just an idea
