Cage Jumbo Tubby Cage - what is it's usable size?

They usually measure from the outside. Since the base is slanted, you'll lose about 2-3" per side.

Well, according to the description, the one pictured is the Jumbo. I have that same hidey house, and it's not even a foot long, so the base of the one shown can't be more than 2.5 feet or so. Alternately, I suppose it is possible that the one shown is actually not the jumbo, or that they happen to have a larger size of that hidey (although I've never seen a larger one sold anywhere).

I looked at that too. I have the XL gnawsome hut, 10" x 15.5" x 8.25." I bought two of them from Drs. Foster and Smith, so I'm thinking that is the one in the picture.

If you're going to spend that much money on the cage, you're better off buying a 2x6 cage from the cage store.

The cage on your link is $95.99
The 2x6 from the cage store is $88.99, and twice the size of the Tubby cage.

My girls live in a 2x6, I'm looking for a size I can transport in a small car. Just got swept up in the lack of safe drinking water to 2+ days. We were invited to stay with relative 3 hours drive away. But I have only a small car carrier and no safe place for them to stay once we arrived. We are planning ahead for the next disaster.

Buy some extra grids and a shower curtain. Always keep a bag of disposable bedding on hand or some fleece and towels in a bag. We've lost power for multiple days quite a few times in the last few years. It's happened in the summer and winter so we've had to move the guinea pigs downstairs where the temperature was more stable. I set up temporary cages down there using extra supplies I had on hand. Their regular cages are too large to move.

I personally use my pigs old cage in the case of an emergency, its not near big enough, but it works. Since I have 3 now, I use a 3x3 play pen with a flat coro sheet, if traveling. It doesn't keep in poos well, so I just sweep 3-4 times a day when they are in that

I agree with making a 2x3 cage with foldable grids.

You can score the coroplast in half to make it fold down even more, it will still work when you put the cage together.
This is my folded 2x5 for when I go on vacation and have to take the pigs to other people's house.
