Where do you get ivermectin from? I know where to get it for horses but thats it.

Ok do you plan to use Ivermectin topically or orally?
If topically you need 1% ivermectin. Usually for sheep and cattle
For orally there is a multitude of products but the cheapest is Ivermectin Horse Paste, usually about $7-$10 for a tube of it.

They don't make a special guinea pig kind of ivermectin. It is usually used as a livestock wormer. But vets, people, and rescues use it to rid guinea pigs of mites.

The paste is for oral?? I would have assumed it's for topical.

Nope lol its a bit weird isn't it? Paste is for oral, and the liquid 1% ivermectin is for topically lol.

lol ya ccm its pretty weird! if you only have a couple of piggs who need treatment then using "Revolution" a cat/dog flea and tick treatment is usually the cheapest way. And easier, and you can locate it easier too. Revolution has the same main ingrediant as Ivermectin, Selamectin.So it will kill mites. I can pick up a kitten/cat Revolution tube for $10 which is cheaper and easier than buying Ivermectin.
Dosage(the same as Advantage, which will kill lice)
0.05 cc for a pig 1lb and under
0.1 cc for a 1lb-2lb pig
0.15 cc for a 2lb-3lb
Given orally behind ear.

You can find revolution usually at a vet or basically any where these days. And usually most places will sell one dose to you.

Oh anyways I have been meaning to ask you lilouisianagal does your piggy have mites or something? Or did you just want to know where to find Ivermectin (and/or Revolution)?

Oh and you only need to give one dose of Revolution, unless you feel (can see symptoms of them still being there)the mites still aren't gone.

I was considering getting a petshop piggie and since it sounds like most have mites I wanted to find out about treatment before I got into it.
