It's freezing cold outside, should I warm the cage?

Bad time to buy a piggie in Taiwan!
The temperature now is 'bout 10 degrees Celcius indoors.
It's already freezing cold to me, what about the pigs? Could they stand the cold?
Should I warm parts of there cages with lamps??

I'm really concerned of them....please help me ><

The lamp idea seems good. You could place a couple outside the cage for heat. Also, you can cover part of the cage with blankets. Equally, you can make them or buy warm toys for their cages - fleece pouches, cozies etc

Yes, and if you do not use fleece I would suggest using it as it keeps your piggies warmer.

When our heating broke I put a towel inside Phoebe's pigloo (little plastic house) for heat & put down LOTS of hay in the cage. I also covered the cage in big towels.

What about hot water bottles?

You should try to get them indoors.

I believe the pigs are already indoors and there is little or no heat. Lots of blankets. Wrap blankets around the outside of the cage, but leave an area open so they can get fresh air. Put blankets or towels inside the cage for them to snuggle down in. I had something similar happen on Christmas Eve morning about 1 a.m. My propane tank ran out and it was about 20F outside and it got down to about 40F inside. I used towels, blankets and fleece and a small electric heater to keep my piggies warm. Everyone came through just fine and I didn't even have a sick pig or hamster.

Aren't pigs more susceptible to heat than to cold. Since they are from the mountains of Ecuador, I'm sure they must be adapted to handle cooler temperatures. I would think if humans could live in it, so can pigs.

Yes, but in very cold temperatures they can become ill faster so it's better to keep them warm when it's really cold and there is no heat.

I think pigs need the temperature to be at least 18 degrees Celcius. They can get sick very easily, so definately cozies, lots of towels/blankets in the cage, heating lamp, electric heater, anything you can do. Just make sure that if you put a heat source near their cage that they have somewhere to get away from it if they get too hot.

Dumb question, but if your place is 10 degrees Celcius indoors and you are freezing cold why don't you turn the heat up? We keep our thermostat at 19 degrees Celcius.
