OMGosh, I know some of you are going to think I'm crazy, and I might very well be crazy, but I can't believe the day will be here tomorrow!!!!
I've been on these boards on and off now for the last 4 years trying to learn as much as I can before I get my piggies. I can't believe I will be picking them up tomorrow!!!!! I feel like I'm 12 years old again that's how excited I am.
The rescue is a little over an hour away from me and my car will never make it, so my nephew has agreed to "take me to my appointment" tomorrow morning, but has no idea where he's taking me. Hope he's not too mad at me.
From the pictures of the two of them, I can see that they (2 girls that have been living together all their lives) are being kept in a cage that has wood chips on the floor and I get the cage with them (and a water bottle) all for $25. Since this was so completely unexpected and happened within a week, I don't have the C&C cage I want yet, but that will be happening sooner rather than later (I may have to order the cage in sections due to cost, but it will happen), but in the meantime, I picked up more chips last night and a small bag of hay. I already ordered my hay and pellets from KMS since SPS was having issues with their website (for the hay). My order has already shipped from KMS, so we'll see how fast I get it.
So, tonight between jobs I'm going to make a quick run to Petsmart (don't scream at me, it's the closest store between jobs that I can pick up the things I need quick - don't worry, I won't go back). I'll be picking up a carrier to bring them home in, will NOT be leaving them in the cage or they'll get hurt sliding around; nail clipping kit; food bowls; and see if they have a decent shampoo, just in case it's needed soon. If they have a decent hay bag to start with, I'll get that too, if not, I'll just put it on the floor of the cage. I read the sticky about the grommet bags, will avoid those, trust me.
Have I forgotten anything else to get them started? I'll pick up some veggies before I leave work (at Walmart) tonight. Red or green leaf, carrots, peppers and cherry tomatoes to get them started when I bring them home, yes? I'll ask the rescue if they gave them any pellets before I picked them up at 10:30, if not, I'll feed them some of those as well.
My brain is just spinning with excitement and today can't go fast enough for me. Am I forgetting anything? I know those of you who have known my story for the last 4 years are laughing right now - stop it!!!
Thanks for putting up with me!!!!
Michele
