Well Guys,

My Abby turns out to be Albert. Going to think of a new name for him, attach is a photo, what do you think I should call him,

The girl went to another Cavy slave that lives by me and I adopted well actually got it for free, a baby boy, from her and yes he is a boy, thank god. LOL.

So now I have 5 Boars.

Buzz and Romeo, which already came bonded.

Toby, the Sheltie.

The Baby he is a black and white.

And the Boy currently named Abby,

So if you can rename Abby I will post the new name after we find one.

Also can any one help me about introducing all of them, how should I do it and should I put all five together amd hope for the best. Or introduce one at a time to Romeo and Buzz(the bonded ones) and then go from there. Or introduce the three newer ones and then to Buzz and Romeo. I know at first they will run around and sniff one another and hump how long should I introduce them the first time. And when would I know that they are content with one another and convert my cages so they can all live peacefully. Just courious. I looked at Cavy Spirit and did not find much.

Well thanks for naming my Boy.

Congrats! So now you have five. You need, I suggest, at least a 2x7 preferably a 2x8 cage. (A 2x6 would work, but it would be a little small). You need to introduce them all, together. The bathroom floor works for me. With boys, I would suggest watching them for at least an hour a half before putting them all together in a newly cleaned cage. There will be mounting and rumblestrutting, but that is perfectly normal. ONLY seperate if a serious fight happens and blood is drawn.

He looks like a 'Bear' to me.

Thanks,

My daughter actually said bear. I am considering that.
Right now I have the sheltie and the baby together, they are getting along fine, Toby ( sheltie) is kida reserve, so he is drawn to the baby, it has been over 2hours together and they are now sleeping,

The others Buzz Romeo they bonded guys, I am introducing them to (bear) and that is a trip to watch, they are hopping on one another and squealing, and pooping like crazy, lol, it did get out of hand, so I seperated them for now and will have a go at it later. How many times a day should I introduce them. I tried bear with Toby and Baby and bear is to anxious and the baby is scared and Toby is fighting well not so much, when he goes to the baby, but I am doing my best they will all hopefully be together soon.

How long does it usually take to get them all together,

Just introduce them once and put them in the big cage together. Otherwise it will stress them out.

Did you see this? https://www.cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm

Put them in neutral territory with a lot of food to distract them then put them in their large cage (with lots of hidey spots) after you clean it so it doesn't just smell like one or two of them.

Unless there is blood shed, do not separate them. Or try a buddy bath.

What about Abner? I hate the thought of changing their names to drastically - I know that Cujo knows his name - and Sebastian seems to also.

You know that is the name,
thanks Mom to Cujo.
That is so adorable, and it has me cracking me up. Abner, and it suits him.
My daughter wanted bear, but this is much better.Just a update. I am cleaning the cage so no scents and putting alot of veggies and hide aways in threr and later, when my little girl is asleep, I will put them all in together and watch them for a hour or so and I will leave them there, I am just scared when I go to bed they will hurt one another but a hour or two of figthing they should be calm for the night LOL. I was thinking about doing Toby and the baby an 2x3 cage. Since they are the calmest and they are getting along. And doing Abner Buzz and Romeo in a 2x5. Or I can out them all together, but I am unsure, since the baby is so small I want to wait till her gets bigger. I have some rearranging cages tonight.

Well thanks Cujos mom, I love the name.

Thats a great name!

i am so flattered! We expect to be adding 2 more boys to our family - babies this time. We have been discussing names and my husband and I figured we'd name them after our dads, who have both passed. His dad's name was Wilfredo, but since it ends in "o" we don't want to confuse Cujo it will be Willie, and my dad was Edward Issac, but we can't use Eddie because it will confuse Willie, so it will be Issac - but we'll probably call him Ike! I ain't easy!

Your welcome. I did that with my daughter Selene we had no idea being new parents what to name her. So we named her Selene Elizabeth, Selene (his mom) and Elizabeth (my Mommy) and it worked out great.

I think those names are awesome, expesically willie, I was called that in grade school cause of my maiden name williams, I have no idea why we have nick names, lol. Well take care all.

Are you adopting the boys from Cindy?

I have filled out the application, been approved and now am waiting for them to be old enough to be correctly sexed and weaned and then yes I am adopting from Cindy. I can not wait!!! I've already started building the new cage, ordered the appropriate food for the little guys and am just counting the days!
My living room will turn into a piggie farm and I am so HAPPY! I'll keep you updated as it will still be a few weeks before I can get them.
