Is this OK for 2 boars?

Due to space configurations, i had to try to put my two boars together again. What I did was add a top level to my 2x3. I built a full 2x3 floor on top of the other with a square cut out large enough for the ramp to go through in a top floor grid. The ramp goes up the back long side of the cage. Each floor has a hay rack ,food dish, hidey house and corner shelf with a litter box underneath.

The top floor has a undershelf storage cubby over the ramp hole and the bottom floor has the rolled up cardboard tube they love. (along with their stuffed fuzzies!) Each floor also has a water bottle. The bottom level has a 32 oz. flatback and the top has a 16 oz. flatback. Is this ok for two boars? They seem fine and each goes to their own floor when they want to be apart.

I couldn't extend the cage to a 2x4 because for some reason it wouldn't stabilize when I did before. I have shelving for the lid. They get on ok now except when Ziggy wants to hump Stardust. Stardust was the one that kept Ziggy in the hanging cubby and not let himn down to eat, etc. if anyone remembers my post regarding that. They keep altenating dominance. Ziggy is the one *endowed* while Stardust is not. Could that be why Ziggy is more *aggressive* in the mounting matter?

They mount often to say 'oi, this is MY terrortory!'...but they shouldnt be doing it all the time.

Sounds ok. Its better then just a 2x3 or a petstore cage, although a 2x4 with a 2x2 or 1x2 2nd floor would be a better use of space.

Oh, he doesn't do it ALL the time...he's just the only one that does it.

I would love to do a 2x4 with a 2x3 top but my 2x4 just wouldn't hold together at the end for some reason. They seem very happy, though and no fighting. I also really like having the shelving fit over the entire top without having to use grids on ione side.
Who knows...maybe I'll venture to expand it on the bottom. I just have to get the energy as this was difficult enough!! Hubby thinks I'm crazy that it's so big now. He thinks we can put another one in there and won't believe anything different. But then he also thinks it would be just fine to put a female in there and expect the boys not to fight. *rolling my eyes* Don't worry, it's NOT gonna happen.

Did you use the connectors and tons of cable/zip ties for stability?

I think it's fine, you don't need to expand really. As long as they don't really fight, you're boys get along fine, no need. If they are being a bit moody, put them on longer floor time.

For stability did you try using cubes/grids on the bottom in the corners? I did that and it make my cage way more sturdy.

I have the cage on a stand I made from grids. The grids are attatched along the back and sides, then the two sets in the middle. It wobbles when the pigs run but is sturdy still. I've decided to keep it the way it is for now since they get along and seem to have plenty of space. It was just such a huge pain to build it the way it is now to keep them together! If I redo it anytime, I will nix the cinnectors and use straight zip-ties, though. Several parts are zip-tied already along with the connectors. Especially on the upper floor where the grid corners meet in the middle of the cage.
