When I hold my guinea pig on my lap in her cuddle cup she lays down and kicks her leg out all comfy and then starts to grind her teeth very quietly. I know she is not chattering at me angrily because she does that when I am trying to pick her up from her cage. So I am familiar to that sound.
Her quiet grinding of the teeth reminds me of when I had birds and they would grind their beaks when they were content and falling asleep. Is this the same sort of thing with cavies? Does this mean contentment?

I don't know if it means contentment or not, but I do know that it's normal, so it's nothing to worry about.

Mine grind their teeth a lot when I hold them. I wondered at first if it meant that they were angry and/or uncomfortable but now it appears to be more of just a thing that they do. If they're not chattering then I wouldn't worry about it.
