Is there such a thing as a teddy bear guinea pig, or a mini guinea pig or any type of piggy that is smaller than the average one?

there arent miny piggies but there are teddy bear guinea pigs who have spikey fulffy hair but my teddie is actually bigger than my other pigs were at that age.

I was wondering becuase if I can find two piggies that are small then I can have both but if not then I'm only allowed to have one. It's stupid but that's just how it is lol.

Just say they are the small ones, how would anyone know? They are pretty small anyways.

Thats true. If you can find very young ones, they are pretty small, just call them teddys.

Haha that won't work. My mom knows the difference because we have had a few gunea pigs over the years. I am still trying to convince her that two are better than one but so far no luck:(.

Okay. I will give just about anything a shot to convince her lol.

Well I have good news...sorta... I can get two piggies now so long as they are smallish ones! So hopefully I can find two baby females to get soon.

yay congrats. II hope you find some soon.

Well, the are :small: ones, but I've been told my girl is small because when younger the owner didn't feed them correctly, get enough nutrients, ect..

females are generaly smaller then the males, so go for two of those.

Yeah I'm trying to find two females but there are none for adoption around here (Nova Scotia, Canada) so it looks like I'm going to have to get them from a pet store. But I'm going to check them over really well before I get them that's for sure!

Good luck on your search, and please do try and look for a rescue.

I have been looking for awhile now and can't find any that are close enough. The closest is 20 hours away and that's just way too far. If anyone knows of any close to me then please let me know! I have even looked on petfinder and that and have found nothing:(

Wow, that is a bit too far! Hmm... I don't know right offhand, but have you tried looking in the classifieds at petfinder? How about (broken link removed) classifieds and listings? I'll check right now.

Why does your mom want "small" ones? Guinea pigs are small. They average 2-3 pounds. There is no such thing as a "dwarf" guinea pig. The only thing I can think of is find a rescue with adult pigs that are on the small side.

The breed "Teddy" is no smaller than any other breed.

Yeah I know. But mom is cool with getting two now so long as they are "smallish" ones. So females are smaller so if I find two that I like then I will just get them anyhow and she won't say no after I get them home haha. And as for the classifieds at cavyrescue, I have found none anywhere near me:(

How about this! (broken link removed). The rescuer sounds like he/she may not know a ton about cavies, but at least he/she has some if you'd like them. Located in Dartmouth, NS.

Or: (broken link removed) may have cavies from time to time.

Hope that may have helped a little. I'll keep looking.

Thanks for the links. I will check them out for sure!!!
